Q. Talk about putting up a point for the U.S. Team in the opening match. Sam, your second shot into the 14th, making the birdie putt, riling up the crowd after that. Walk me through that and what that did for you and your partner, who's over here smiling, chuckling on the way in.

SAM BURNS: Yeah, you always have critical stretches in the match. I think that was a big one there for us to get some momentum back on our side. They had just birdied 13, so we were 1-down. Hit one in there close and tried to use every bit of momentum as you can, and I think that was a good time to try to do it.

Yeah, it was a tough match. We knew these guys were going to come out and play well, and we all kind of stalled out a little bit there in the middle of the round, but we continued to try to play tough and keep ourselves in it.

Q. Such a hot start, Scottie, birdie bonanza for both sides, it felt like. What was the conversation like between you and Sam coming down the stretch when things did maybe slow a little and it was a grind there at the end to get that full point?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, just trying to stay in it. This is a challenging golf course, and the greens are really, really quick right now. So yeah, just doing my best to compete on each and every shot. That was really our motto today. Yeah, not too much outside of that.
