THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 4, 2026

Amanda Anisimova

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

M. KEYS/A. Anisimova

3-6, 6-2, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Amanda, tough one today. Could you just give us some thoughts on the match.

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: Yeah, really tough match for me today. I thought Madi played better in the second and third set. Yeah, I don't really know what else to say.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Really tough one. Overheard you talking to your team about your forehand. Obviously it was giving you trouble today. Can you pinpoint what you were unhappy with, or was it just you were trying different things and nothing was working?

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: Yeah, it's been a really rough few months trying to find my game and obviously struggling with my forehand a lot lately. Just something that I'm still trying to figure out. Yeah, just not easy to go out there and my level being that low.

Yeah, a lot of things for me to figure out. Yeah.

Q. What do you do to typically bounce back from a tough loss like this? Is there some silver linings in it that takes the pressure off going into the rest of the year?

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: Yeah, I don't know. Normally, I'd be motivated and would just look at it as another opportunity going forward. But after the last few months, it's really hard to see a silver lining, because it's been really, really tough.

I feel like I'm doing everything I can and working really hard. So for my game to still be at this point, it's really hard to digest and take.

It's almost like I'm playing at a 125,000 level, not Wimbledon. That's what I was saying to my coaches earlier. So, yeah, I don't know.

For me, it wasn't enjoyable to play out there today with my tennis being like that. It was really, really tough. And when I'm happy and I'm enjoying it, it's when I'm able to play my tennis. But when I'm not able to make one forehand in the court, it's really, really hard.

So, I don't know. I need to go home and take some time and figure out how I can fix this.

Q. Why do you think it's been so tough? Is it physically? Has that affected your game? Or are there other reasons why it's been tough the last few months?

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: No, not physically. Honestly, I don't really know.

Q. I'm sorry to hear it's been so tough. You make it look much easier than I'm sure it is. You're really good at moving on from things. I wonder what it felt like before the match began, walking back out onto Centre Court.

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: (Tearing up.)

Sorry. Yeah, I was excited to go back out on Centre Court, especially playing on Court 2 the last two days. So I was really eager to play. Obviously nervous, because I know my level hasn't been great lately. Like I was very aware of that.

I did everything I could to prepare yesterday and today and do all the right things. But it wasn't enough.

Hopefully everything will click for me soon, but right now, it's hard to see that coming.
