Quick Quotes
Q. How was your day out there and how do you feel you played?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I played very well. I think it was like a really solid day. You I think there was a patch in the middle where I thought I was hitting it really good, like 6, 7, 8, 9. I was hitting really good shots and didn't really make the most of it, a few putts slid by. Other than that, I made a great birdie on 12, played 13 great, good birdie on 14. And then I felt like the finish was kind of tricky, to be honest with you. The wind switched a little bit, felt like the holes weren't playing that easy. I hit two poor iron shots really, 16 and 17, and that was all. That was the only bit that was poor. I thought 18 was a very hard fairway to hit today. Yeah, I did a lot of good stuff and overall I think it was a good round.
Q. In the two Canadian Opens that you've played since 2023, have you felt more love from the crowds here at all as kind of the runner-up that year and now they're kind of more firmly in your corner?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I think they have always been great with me. I think even 2023, was it, they were great with me then. I probably got about as much support as anybody could hope for during that time, during that Sunday. I've always enjoyed coming here, I've always felt like the crowd are very friendly, very supportive, very hospitable. I've been lucky to get the right end of that as well. So it's always been nice and I don't think, I don't know maybe since then there's been a little bit of extra support for me.
Q. Calling for rain, wind is supposed to switch maybe 180, how does that change your approach out there?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Well, it will be a different golf course and a different challenge. You just have to be ready for whatever the golf course is going to bring and whatever challenge that is. Who knows, it might help some holes, might hurt some holes. But overall I think we just have to be ready for what is to come tomorrow and know that you're going to go out there for 18 holes, and 18 holes in a battle, really. But, yeah, by the sound of the forecast, it's going to be cold and wet, and like you say, a different wind, so that will be interesting. But, yeah, overall looking forward to it.
Q. You're a guy that play a lot of DP World Tour events, traveled around the world, any part of you wish the PGA TOUR would take a little bit more of a global approach, with all these pending changes, is there ever a voice saying, We should be a little bit more global?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I think it's, you know, a never ending question, in a way. It's tough. There's so many good events on the PGA TOUR and clearly like the PGA TOUR is sort of the pinnacle of touring professional golf at the moment, and that's where it's at. So I don't know, there's always an event that can be added here or there. But overall it's a great Tour. I feel very lucky to be playing out here, I enjoy it. I think there's so many events that obviously players -- I'm European, so I grew up dreaming of playing on the European Tour, on the DP World Tour, but so many guys out here have dreamt of playing so many of these events. I think it's a tough one, but we'll see where the TOUR leads. I'm sure there's always going to be events that come around and it continues to be a sort of, you know, it's global in terms of the people that play the TOUR and the viewership that it gets, but we'll see where it goes.
