THE MODERATOR: Talor Gooch, captain of OKGC, welcome back to the media center. Today shot a 1-under 69, tied for the lead entering Sunday. You often speak about the rule of 67, how if you shoot a 67, the leaderboard will often take care of itself. At this course in particular, is that going to be the mindset entering Sunday?
TALOR GOOCH: When you see a leaderboard with guys like this, you feel like you've got to do more than 67. But I think the mentality of 67 is just to play good golf, and everything takes care of itself.
To kind of reiterate what Joaco was just saying, I'm going to try to hit a bunch of fairways, a bunch of greens and make a bunch of putts. This course you can't get ahead of yourself; bogeys can sneak up on you very quick. So you've got to stay very present on this golf course.
Q. How much fun is it on a Saturday to be grouped with the likes of Bryson and Cam, and what kind of popularity do you sense that they command in this part of the world?
TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, both of them are two of the biggest stars in the game, and obviously everywhere in the world they are. But Bryson is a whole different animal. It's always fun being paired with him. There's always a little bit of chaos. But it's awesome. You see all the good that he's done with his YouTube and his social media and obviously his success on the course, and it's paying off with the masses following him and knowing him and cheering for him around the world.
It makes Saturdays a little more exciting when you're paired with him.
Q. I just want to ask you about the par train that you were on to start today. When you're on that path, is there ever a temptation to try to force the issue at all, or do you feel like, especially at this course, there are not that many birdies out there today, so par is probably going to be okay?
TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, this course more than most, it's a little easier to stay patient. Yesterday I didn't intend on making that many birdies, and it just happened. You've got to stay patient and just wait for your time and hope that it comes, and it unfortunately didn't come much today, but that's why we stay patient. Maybe tomorrow it'll come. This course, more than most courses, it's a little easier to stay patient out there.
Q. You guys are one stroke back on the team leaderboard; you've won team titles with three different teams, but if you win tomorrow, it would be the first as captain. Do you think that would mean something more significant for you?
TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, that would be super special. Ever since we went through the whole rebranding process, all you think about is spraying your teammates with champagne. It would be amazing to be able to do that tomorrow.
Q. Kind of a non-golf question, but game 7 tomorrow with the Thunder. It's 9:00 a.m. tip-off. I don't know how much of the game you're going to be able to watch before the round tomorrow?
TALOR GOOCH: I'll be able to watch all of it. I was talking with my caddie on the way down the 15th hole today or something like that. I definitely get more nervous for Thunder games, important Thunder games, than about anything else. Ironically tomorrow might be a good thing to watch the Thunder and kind of get some of my nerves out of my system before we tee it off. But I will be watching all of it.
