Quick Quotes

THE MODERATOR: We are joined by United States Captain Keegan Bradley. Jump right into questions here.

Q. Seems like most groups had at least one big hitter in it, maybe except for Collin and Harris.

KEEGAN BRADLEY: Yeah, we looked at our data, the guy, the golf balls. We've had this lineup set up for a long time. On this course analytically you can flip-flop a lot of holes evens or odds. There's an even amount of par 5s and long par 4s and short par 4s and par 3s. Ultimately the group that plays the best is going to win the match. We're real happy with our groups.

Q. We had not seen that group together. What particular about those two players? What do you like about their games and how they complement each other?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: Collin Morikawa is one of the best ball-strikers in the world. So is hires. Harris is an incredible putter. We really felt like they complemented each other. They have similar demeanors and they really like each other and they are extreme competitors. They relish the opportunity to play together.

Q. If you wouldn't mind just trying to describe your emotions right now and kind of what you anticipate as it heads in, and then I couldn't help but ask if anybody gave you grief over the Justin Rose, Justin Leonard moment from your speech yesterday?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: I told the vice captains right now I wish I was playing. I feel like I'm ready to go now, go to the first tee.

No, a mistake on the Justin Rose. Somebody yelled out Justin Rose right before I read it and said it. I didn't even know until I was done. Honest mistake. We are really happy we've gotten to this point. Feels like we were waiting a year and a half for this moment just then and now that we see the matchups on paper and know that we are going to go out tomorrow and play, it's an incredible feeling.

Q. You use "we" all the time. Is there a part of you that's still thinking "I" as all or in your mind is it just "we" from this point on?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: It's all "we." We have a whole team of vice captains, our players, our coaches, our caddies, our wives, our -- we have a whole time behind us, not just the players and captains. I've never felt closer to a group of people in my entire life. We've come a long way since I started this process, and it's been an almost magical week for us all.

Q. Bryson going off in the first group, he's been adamant all week that he's willing to try to drive the first green if conditions allow it. Have you given him the green light for it?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: Yes, sir. Let him get up there. We want him to do what he does, and he got up there today and hammered one right in the in front of the green. Bryson thrives under this sort of atmosphere. For me when I would go out on these first tees, I would be very nervous and didn't know what to expect. I see Bryson and I can see him walking out there just relishing the moment and relishing the chance to get up there and hit that shot.

Bryson has been a leader in our room. He's been an incredible teammate. What a better two guys to lead our team out tomorrow than Justin and Bryson.

Q. Is there a scenario where the four who sat in the morning might also sit all day?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: You know, we're going to get through tomorrow. I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but we are going to get through tomorrow morning and pairings are not due until 11:40 and we'll sort that out then.

Q. Also, you've known your lineup for a while but is there anything -- well, you've probably been speculating on what Luke might do. Anything that caught you by surprise?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: I mean, not really. Like I said, if they gave us the pairings, we have to go out and win the matches. It's really hard to tell what they are going to do. We figured a few of the spots are right where we thought they were. We are more focused on what our lineup is and then we are going to have to go out there and beat their guys.

Q. Wonder if you can expand on your thinking behind sending Bryson out first.

KEEGAN BRADLEY: Well, besides the fact that he's a world-class player and one of our best players on the team. We wanted to send out a fiery group to lead us out with these fans that have been waiting two years -- more than that, 15 years, to see this tournament play.

Like I said, Bryson just relishes in these opportunities. He wants them. He's one of these guys where you hear on a basketball team who wants the ball for the last shot. He's one of those guys and so is Justin. Let's not forget, Justin is the heartbeat of our team. They are to go out and be a really tough team to beat.

Q. You mentioned a plan on the TV interview. How much of the plan is set in stone and how much changes on the fly? Did you have a sense of these pairings coming in before you got to Bethpage versus what you saw this week?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: Yeah, we've been working on these pairings for a long time. We had a really good idea of what we were going to do today -- or tomorrow. It's just a matter of executing that plan. You have to wait and see how healthy everybody is, if they get sick or whatever it is. We've had none of that so far and we have been working on these pairings for a long time. We are really excited to get them out there tomorrow.

Q. Going forward after the morning session, do you have a sense of what you want to do, or does that dictate based on what happens?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: We have a pretty good idea of what we want to do.

Q. Telling Bryson and J.T. they are going out first, that's an honour to get that moment. How did they react to that?

KEEGAN BRADLEY: They were really excited. They have known for a long time. I'm really just really proud of Bryson and Justin.

Justin, they both have been: Put me with anybody, I just want to win. When we came to them about playing together, they were just so thrilled. It's a fiery group. It's a group that can go out and lead our team, and excited to see them do that.
