Q. Compared to your other starts, what was working so well for you today and what allowed you to do what you just did?
TREY YESAVAGE: Just getting in the zone early, being in my count, just throwing whatever I wanted when I was in two strikes.
Q. One of your bigger strikeout with Ohtani in the third when you brought him down to a knee there, what's that moment like for you to do that to such a great hitter?
TREY YESAVAGE: I was just out there -- I treat every hitter the same. At this level every hitter can do damage. Just another strikeout.
Q. There was a shot on TV where you get the double play, the 5, 4, 3, and Scherzer screams and throws the bag away. What has that been like being with those guys and how have they helped you put together this historic run from regular season to now?
TREY YESAVAGE: They have been a huge part of it. I was talking to Gausman and Scherzer and Bieber and everybody yesterday, and it just prepared me for this moment, along with everything that has happened already this year.
Q. How does it feel to be such a young guy and have the kind of poise you have and to be dealing with the Gausmans and Scherzers? I mean, you were at every level of the minor leagues this year, so your ascension has been pretty quick.
TREY YESAVAGE: Yeah, it's been a crazy year, but being surrounded by vets is a great thing for the future of my career. They have treated me the best I could have ever asked for. So going forward with other rookies that come up, I'm going to remember how I was treated when I got here. The poise part, I don't know, you got to thank my parents.
Q. One of the things we were noting was the way baseball structure -- or salary structure is, you really made, like, a little bit of money for the three outings you made in the Major Leagues, but going towards the future, it's all building, isn't it?
TREY YESAVAGE: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, this playoff paycheck is going to be nice whenever it hits.
Q. The way you guys came out with the Schneider homer and the Guerrero homer, how much of a boost did that give you and help you settle into the game early on as well?
TREY YESAVAGE: It was massive. Those guys set the tone, put us in control early, and we didn't lose that.
Q. No walks tonight. Was the plan really just to attack early and often on everybody tonight?
TREY YESAVAGE: Yeah. That's the goal every day, but sometimes it doesn't go as planned. Being able to execute my plan throughout all seven innings was massive for that.
Q. It looks like you had a lot left in the tank. When was the last time you went this deep into a game that many pitches?
TREY YESAVAGE: It has to be a regional game in college against Wake Forest last year.
Q. Have you had time to enjoy the whole process, minor leagues, big leagues, postseason, and World Series?
TREY YESAVAGE: Not yet. Not yet. I'm waiting for life to slow down in this off-season and just be able to collect my thoughts and my feelings on this crazy year.
Q. How difficult it was to face the same team back to back in few days? Like, it doesn't happen in regular season.
TREY YESAVAGE: Yeah, it's not easy, but I was used to it in the regular season facing the Rays twice, and then last series I faced the Mariners twice. So I'm able to collect my thoughts and see what adjustments I need to make between outing to outing. So it almost makes it -- I won't say easier, but I have a better plan going into the game.
Q. At any point when you walk out, the game's starting, do you ever allow yourself to think, hey, there are 52,000 people here, I'm pitching to Shohei Ohtani, seven months ago I was pitching to 300 fans in front of me in Jupiter?
TREY YESAVAGE: Yeah, it's a crazy world. Crazy world. Hollywood couldn't have made it this good. So just being a part of this, I'm just very blessed.
Q. Do you ever think of that walking out or just total zoom the second you walk out on the mound?
TREY YESAVAGE: Yeah, I mean, walking from the bullpen to the dugout, I took a moment to look around the stadium, see all the fans I wanted to -- I was hoping I would send 'em home upset. But, yeah, it was just a cool, like, full-circle moment.
Q. What do the next couple days look like for you as you potentially prepare to help this team out in another way if they need you?
TREY YESAVAGE: Yeah, I mean, tomorrow is a full recovery day. Get to a place where myself and the staff here feels comfortable with me. Mentally, I'll be prepared for Game 6, but I mean, I'm just ready for whatever's next, if there is a next.
Q. You left a legacy across the org in the minors this year as a great teammate, and you had great defense behind you tonight. Can you shine some light on your defensive effort behind you?
TREY YESAVAGE: Yeah, there was a bunch of plays made for me, especially the Barger one in right field was a huge game-changer. But I mean, defense across this entire org has been awesome and, yeah, we do a great job with that.
