Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Nelly Korda after the first round at the FM Championship. Could you just touch on how it felt out there for you today?
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, it was great. Had a great ground following us too. Obviously with Brooke winning last week and Minjee playing so well this year, it was a lot of fun to play against them and play with them, especially with the caliber of golf they have been playing.
Yeah, it was overall a solid day. No complaints.
Q. Couple birdies to finish both nines. What was clicking? What in your game stood out to you personally?
NELLY KORDA: Just the right numbers, right clubs, hit them pretty close. One was a reachable par-5 and the other one I hit a 7-iron on a par-3 to like four, five feet. So kind of in a sense stuff going my way where the right clubs were matching up with the right yardages.
Q. Any fun comments out there with Brooke?
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, obviously it's a new week. We kind of all are obviously -- congratulated her. Saw her at the beginning of the week. I think we were all just focused on our rounds that we were playing today.
Q. First competitive round here. What about this course stands out and how is it different from last week that you had to adjust?
NELLY KORDA: I would say similar grass this week; speed of the greens is also really fast; maybe a little bit faster than last week.
But overall just a very nice golf course. You have to hit the right shots and at the end of the day make the putts.
Q. New putter in the bag from last week?
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, it is. It's kind of the head that I was putting with last year but a TaylorMade.
Q. So when you're making a switch like that, what are you looking for in feels or what did you like about this one?
NELLY KORDA: Just something else than I've been feeling. Just something new. I had so much success with that head and I hit a couple before Toronto. It was kind of obviously golf courses right now in Florida aren't the best. Like the golf courses that I'm at just opened after being closed for a month.
So there was a lot of sand on them. Wasn't really sure how I really liked the putter, but I just went with it. I knew I had so much success with that kind of putter and felt confident with T obviously it's a different grip, too. It's a Super Stroke. I just picked it out of the group of putters that I had and that I liked, and kind of went with it.
Just needed to feel something different.
Q. Have you used Super Stroke before?
NELLY KORDA: I have, yes. Not in a while but I have before, yes.
