Brittany Lang

Brittany Lincicome

Midland, Michigan, USA

Midland Country Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Here with the LPGA Mom Team over here, Brittany Lincicome and Brittany Lang. I'll start with you, Brittany Lincicome. What have the last two days been like and how did this partnership come to you?

BRITTANY LINCICOME: It's been amazing. We've played on Solheim Cups together and we're basically the same person. Our games are very much the same. Our personalities are very much the same. We can feed off of each other.

It's basically like when I'm talking to her about a shot it's basically what I would tell myself or trying to do, so it's just been really fun. Making some birdies, which is nice.

THE MODERATOR: Brittany Lang, what's it been like playing alongside Brittany these last two days?

BRITTANY LANG: You know, it's been great. I've been struggling a little bit this year and I was really looking forward to this week. I'm playing some of the best golf I've played all year. She relaxes me and we've had so much fun. It's been a real positive for me.

Q. When you're on the course, how much trust do you have in Lincicome over here?

BRITTANY LANG: A lot. She's so steady. There's a reason she has, what, eight wins and two majors. She's super, super steady. I can always count on her. If there's a tucked pin she hits it just right of the pin and she hits a lot of fairways, great putter, super solid and steady, which makes me more confident because I know I'm going to have somebody there helping me.

Q. You say you're the same person and great friends. A lot of good friends out here, but a lot of times people want someone whose game is different than theirs. Your games are exactly the same. How is it that that works for you?

BRITTANY LINCICOME: I think that works better. A lot of people think you put a longer hitter with a shorter hitter, but then your longer hitter is hitting those irons in and it kind of throws off their game. I feel like similar games work better.

But yeah, we've just been doing our own thing. Today was just keeping two balls in play the whole entire time, two balls on the green, two putts at birdie. Maybe if she got it on the green or I got it on the green the other person could be a little bit more aggressive and go at the pin.

But yeah, our games are -- it's basically the same person.

Q. How many times have you guys played alternate-shot either in Solheim Cup --

BRITTANY LANG: I have no idea.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: I feel like alternate-shot normally falls in my nap schedule at Solheim.

BRITTANY LANG: We play best ball.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: We play best ball normally, but alternate-shot is really fun. You definitely can't say the S word, which is sorry, and you've just got to play your own game. Trust each other to get it up-and-down and we're obviously on Tour for a reason and we're both great players, so we just kind of ham and egged it, I guess.

Q. I'm still laughing at the nap schedule comment.

BRITTANY LANG: She's being honest.

Q. Give me your best Solheim Cup heat of the moment story where you guys really -- your friendship shown through as a team.

BRITTANY LANG: We've been through so much together. We've grown up together. We're super close, and I feel like when those nerves hit you in the Solheim Cup, going to her and being like, I'm so nervous, are you? And she's like, yes, I'm very nervous, it's just good to hear your friends say that, that they're excited and nervous too instead of just holding it inside and getting tense. We've had a lot of moments like that.

But just building each other up in those moments is always great.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah, like yesterday I had a chip on -- chip-in on the par-5 was probably the worst chip ever and I left her with like 15 feet and she was like, Thank you so much for not leaving me with a three- or four-footer, you totally freed me up with a 15-footer, and she drained it no problem. That's just kind of how our personalities are.

BRITTANY LANG: I was just thinking about that.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: I knew exactly what she needed, and that's what we did.

Q. Brittany Lang, I see Grace on the side of your hat there, and Brittany Lincicome. Can you just speak to the moms coming together to support each other and what it's been like for you two to watch Jane and her family deal with this?

BRITTANY LANG: I'm not going to start talking about that because I don't want to start crying.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah, it's already giving me chills just to see the Tour come together for them. They raised, what, like 80,000 in like two days. Just shows how great of a family we are out here on Tour and how much people care.

Just reading Jane's posts, I can't even imagine what they're going through. Obviously we're praying as hard as we can every day for them. Hopefully some miracle happens and Grace will be totally fine. That's what we're all hoping for.

THE MODERATOR: What format are you liking the best in this particular event? The alternate-shot is definitely unique and different. We don't do this all the time, but this best ball I know you guys shine, especially when you talk about Solheim Cup. In this environment which one are you most excited for as the weekend comes up?

BRITTANY LANG: I've enjoyed both of them. Obviously best ball -- I've played some great golf -- I played great golf today and I haven't played that kind of golf in a while, so I was super excited and free.

But alternate-shot is really fun, too. It's just something different and I enjoy playing that, as well, so I'm just excited to be playing the weekend with Brit.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah, I think best ball is obviously a little bit easier because you have two balls in play the whole time, but I think the holes that we've picked that I tee off and she tees off set up perfectly for both of our games, so I think alternate-shot is awesome, as well.

Q. What is that game plan going into tomorrow? Who takes evens, who takes odds?

BRITTANY LANG: She takes odds and I take evens, and we started out pretty played really well -- better than 2-under, which we shot on the first day, but --

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Couple blemishes.

BRITTANY LANG: We were doing pretty well.
