VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP

April 29, 2021

Patton Kizzire

Palm Harbor, Florida, USA

Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead)

Quick Quotes

Q. First round at 35 under. Tell me about the opening round.

PATTON KIZZIRE: It was good. I played fairly well. I made some good putts. I made some clutch par saves late, a few good putts there, but all in all I feel like I'm playing well and swinging pretty athletic and it feels good out there.

Q. You mentioned your par saves. You only have one hiccup on the day on the scorecard. What was clicking today?

PATTON KIZZIRE: I was putting myself in decent position to knock it on the green and make a putt. I hit a lot of good iron shots and I recovered well. I think any time you have a good round you have to recover a few times and I did that well. That's kind of my game, I tend to have colorful score cards or exciting, wild holes, but I'm -- I like to recover and I like to make putts.

Q. What have you seen from this course here? Are you comfortable with it here? Any problems with the Snake Pit?

PATTON KIZZIRE: Well, there's some difficult holes out there. There's not many that you can relax on. The Snake Pit is difficult. 16, 17 and 18 are one of the toughest stretches on TOUR. I did pretty well there, played those 1-under, par, birdie, par. So I think if you play those under par you'll do pretty well this week.
