Juan Ignacio Chela

KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Good job against Andy's serve. How difficult was it for you to return it?

JUAN IGNACIO CHELA: Well, Andy has a very strange serve. It's very, very strong and very unique. So he tried to return to different places. He thinks he managed to move him a little bit and the return was good because of that.

Q. Do you think the difference today was his backhand versus Andy's backhand?

JUAN IGNACIO CHELA: He says that the key was the last game. The last game was the key of the whole match. That he made a few mistakes in that last game with his backhand, and probably that made him win the match. But the key was that last game. It was a very tight match.

Q. What were your emotions after Andy's final shot went so far out and the match was over?

JUAN IGNACIO CHELA: He was very happy. Andy's a great player. He really wanted to beat him. It's a great win for him.

Q. Have you ever played Escude?

JUAN IGNACIO CHELA: Played once in the Olympic Games, and he beat him in three sets.

Q. Where are all these great Argentinian players coming from?

BENITO PEREZ-BARBADILLO: From Argentina, no (laughter)?

JUAN IGNACIO CHELA: He said that they're working very hard and they're working a lot and that Argentina always had great players. Maybe there was a period where there were not too many, but now they're back there.

Q. So many Spanish practice together in Barcelona. Do the Argentinians practice together in Buenos Aires?

JUAN IGNACIO CHELA: Yeah, we always practice together. We have a very good relationship, and we are always together practicing back down there.
