August 25, 2005

Soo-Yun Kang

DUBLIN, OHIO

PAUL ROVNAK: Thanks for coming in and speaking with us. 6 under par today. Tell us about your day in general.

SOO YUN KANG: Today I have a great condition, same as last week. And my and putting was great, as last week. And I think I'm going to have good score through this week, same as last week.

PAUL ROVNAK: We'll go ahead and take questions.

Q. Does the win give you like a boost in confidence now? Not that you needed it, because you had a halfway decent year. But, I mean, to get that one on the road, now you think you can win more?

SOO YUN KANG: I had big pressure about winning because it seem to be too late for me. So every time I got like good score and close to winning, I always have too much pressure and it makes me like fall down.

But this time, I have already experienced a win, so I think I can have that confidence.

Q. If she could clarify what she means by "too late."

SOO YUN KANG: I won a lot in Korea, and I'm young and everyone was my friend and I always have come through with them. And but I came here later than them, so I tried to win like that. I thought I mean, I can win pretty soon because I was really good with them. But it wasn't, so it makes me it gave me a (indiscernible) and I was I had hard time, just get over it.

Q. It seems like there are so many good South Korean female golfers now. Do you have any explanation why the South Korean golfers are doing so well?

SOO YUN KANG: Maybe they have a gift (indiscernible). I don't know. But, yeah, they push us a lot, too.

Q. You talked about confidence. Birdie, eagle, birdie at 8, 9, and 10. What does that do for your confidence?

SOO YUN KANG: It doesn't matter if I got a birdie or bogey before before hole. I just concentrate on the hole I was playing. And that makes me good makes me good concentration and makes me make birdie, eagle.

PAUL ROVNAK: Can you take us over your score card, the birdies and

SOO YUN KANG: First hole I hit 8 iron.

PAUL ROVNAK: 8 iron?

SOO YUN KANG: (Indiscernible) foot.

And No. 4 (indiscernible) and a two feet.

PAUL ROVNAK: 2 feet?

SOO YUN KANG: Yeah. And then No. 8 was 7 iron, then 6 feet 8 feet.

And No. 9, 3 wood (indiscernible) I chip in and and

PAUL ROVNAK: Do you know how far the chip in was on 9?

SOO YUN KANG: 15 yards.

And 10th hole, 8 iron and 10 feet.

PAUL ROVNAK: 10 feet?

SOO YUN KANG: Uh uh. And No. 16? 15?

PAUL ROVNAK: 16.

SOO YUN KANG: 15?

PAUL ROVNAK: 15?

SOO YUN KANG: 8 iron and chipped it.

Q. And the chip in from 15 yards was close cut, front left, right?

SOO YUN KANG: Right.

Q. Did you have a bogey in there today too?

SOO YUN KANG: Yeah. Number 6 (indiscernible).

Q. (Indiscernible).

SOO YUN KANG: I hit 9 (indiscernible) I miss by two feet.

PAUL ROVNAK: You missed a two putter for par?

SOO YUN KANG: Um hmm.
