BMO FINANCIAL GROUP CANADIAN WOMEN'S OPEN

July 10, 2003

Juli Inkster

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA

JULI INKSTER: Basically I started off a little slow. For some reason, the last couple of days I have been really tired. I don't know if it had to do with the Open. I got it going on the back side today. I'm very happy with the way I played on the back side in my round. I'm looking forward to trying to continue what I'm doing.

Q. How did you play on the par 5s? Do you think they're really the key to scoring well?

JULI INKSTER: The par 5s, I parred 1, birdied the 3, I birdied 10, I birdied 18. You need to score on par 5s. I think there is a lot of good par 4s out here. I think the par 3s are good too. The greens are really big. It's hard to try to get the ball close, but I'm happy with the way I played.

Q. Two questions. One, the early tours were low. Was this tougher out there?

JULI INKSTER: It's tough. It's like it's growing in front of your eyes. The afternoon, it begins to get a little bumpy. I thought the wind stayed pretty constant all day. It's a tough golf course because every hole you've got to think, and then from there, you can kind of get it going, but I'm happy with 4 under. Maybe tomorrow I can do a little better.

Q. Was there any distraction out there when Annika pulled out?

JULI INKSTER: She was behind me, so when I turned around on number 9 and saw there was only two of them in the fairway, and I asked why. Illness, sick, yeah.

It was so slow out there, you can pretty much know everything that's going on. I can tell you about the people in front of this round and probably the people behind this round.

Q. (Inaudible)?

JULI INKSTER: No, it's not. Especially in her situation. You look at the crowds there today to watch her. She's under the microscope and on the go, and if she feels like she can't play her best golf, then she probably did the right thing. Give her two weeks to rest. I'm sure Vancouver is disappointed she withdrew because she's an awesome player. Hopefully, they will still come out and watch other good golfers.

Q. (Inaudible)?

JULI INKSTER: It was, yeah.

Q. (Inaudible)?

JULI INKSTER: Yeah, and it's easy to do. It's a grind for 72 holes, and to get sick and then come right back here to play, a new golf course, so you've got to go out and play and see it. Yesterday, I was really tired.

Q. (Inaudible)?

JULI INKSTER: I do like the golf course. I think it's fun to play. It's got a lot of challenging holes. You know, I'm getting a good drive on the fairway. From there, the fairways are nice and clear.

Q. (Inaudible)?

JULI INKSTER: They are tough to read; a lot of subtle breaks. It's tough.

MODERATOR: Can you do your score card.

(Score card done. )
