ROLEX PARIS MASTERS

November 5, 2026

Arthur Fils

Paris, France

Press Conference

T. FRITZ/A. Fils

6-3, 6-4

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. Arthur, you seemed like something bothered you and you didn't feel comfortable today, as far as I've seen. Any injuries or some wrong feelings that couldn't allow you to show your best tennis?

ARTHUR FILS: Tough first question.

No, I'm not injured. He was just better than me. I didn't feel really comfortable on the court because he made me feel like that.

He played, I think, a very good match. Congrats to him.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.

Q. Good evening, Arthur. During the match, did you have at one point the feeling you were powerless when Taylor was playing pure aces and playing very well?

ARTHUR FILS: Yes, it was very, very complicated, but after all, it's indoors, so I felt at one point or another, I could have an opportunity.

But overall, it's not that I played badly. It's just that he played better. He served better, returned better. In the final analysis, it's two breaks. Not much to say, really.

Q. Would you say a match like tonight shows you possibilities of regression, like returning the second ball or other elements?

ARTHUR FILS: Yes, there were a number of points where I was too defensive, but it's a hard court that is extremely fast. We're not used to playing that fast anymore.

I could have returned better the second ball, as you said. I could have used my forehand better. Now it's a bit early. I have to talk to my team. We haven't debriefed yet, so I have to talk to them to see what parts there are for improvement.

Q. I have a question about Luca. He's the last French still in the tournament, and you've known him for a long time. Are you surprised to see him in quarterfinals of the Rolex Paris Masters?

ARTHUR FILS: No, not surprised. He's always been a good player. Last year he was a bit down in the rankings, but he was able to come back.

He has huge qualities, and he's shown it today in a long match against Musetti. So well done. Congrats to him, and I'm happy.

Maybe we'll have a Frenchman in the semis and maybe in the finals, and why not a French winner.
