Quick Quotes
Q. Here we have Natasha Oon. Couple of birdies and a bogey. How can you describe us your round?
NATASHA OON: My round was pretty -- I had a great ball striking day but I think my putting kind of could have showed up a little more.
I was thinking of like a clean round but just had a (indiscernible.) You know, I had so much fun playing with those girls so I really learned a lot from them.
Q. Did you have also a lot of fun playing the Maybank Championship this year?
NATASHA OON: Oh, yeah, definitely. I think playing the full season on the LPGA Tour has definitely made me appreciate this event a lot more. I realize the time and effort it takes to hold on event and also all the people that come and recognize me, it's really cool.
Yeah, I think so many people are just rooting and supporting me and I don't really get to see that a lot when we're traveling a lot, so it's really nice to get a taste at home.
Q. Perhaps a few words for the fans that greeted you with such fanfare this time. What can you share with them?
NATASHA OON: I really, really appreciate them and I really, really thank them for rooting for me and following my career, and that I'm always going to like, you know, try my best and keep a smile on my face so they can have fun at golf, too. I just really want them to enjoy the sport.
Q. How would you sum up what this week was like?
NATASHA OON: I think this week was the week that -- I kind of had a really tough year because this year has been like a lot of getting back to the swing of things, getting -- you know, being a tour pro after such a long break.
This week was like it's kind of like a guaranteed four days. There is no cut. You know, for someone like me, I'm like I don't want think about the cut. I want to win, but I have been having a rough patch and I think for me I was just like, I'll enjoy every single day.
Q. What's next?
NATASHA OON: I think I'm an alternate for a tournament, so I don't really know, and then I'm going to go to Q-School to see how this goes.
Q. First two rounds were -- I mean, Thursday and Friday your rounds compared to Saturday and Sunday was very (indiscernible.)
NATASHA OON: Yeah.
Q. So what was different? What was the biggest difference?
NATASHA OON: I don't know, I guess. On Thursday I was hitting it pretty bad honestly and I was just like hitting it left and right a little bit. I think me and my caddie were joking because I record a lot of my coached videos, so a tip is to record a lot of your lessons.
What happens is that I was watching my videos and I was like, okay, let me do this move, and I think I just figured it out. I guess I'm going to have to go on the driving range.
Q. You play in 2023.
NATASHA OON: Yeah.
Q. (Indiscernible.)
NATASHA OON: Definitely I feel like the event has like really done a lot more. I feel like I see the tiger stuff, it's really cute. Everything is a lot better organized. I don't know, it's just a great event.
2023 I feel like I just had a lot of expectations for myself, and I come here this year and I'm like, you know, I'm really trying to let loose and enjoy everything. So I'm just a lot more outgoing, extroverted I feel like when I come back. Social media, like, ah, that's...(laughter.)
Q. So maybe you have set up a target for the next edition?
NATASHA OON: Yes. Edition, like fifth one?
Q. Yeah.
NATASHA OON: You always want to win, but I think, I don't know, like I just feel like I just get to like enjoy it. I'm always enjoying it. So, yeah, appreciate so much what they've done.
Q. Last one. Did you hear or see anything memorable?
NATASHA OON: Hear or see -- I love the fans.
There was this girl, she has been tagging me in her stories and I finally got meet her. She's been like, oh, shouting me out. Like, hey, I can't believe you are coming back this year. So fun. Shout out to her.
It really, really like -- I think when I connect with people that really matters the most.
