BREEDERS' CUP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

October 31, 2026

Flavien Prat

Ways and Means Further Ado

Lexington, Kentucky, USA

Keeneland Race Course

Mare & Filly Sprint/Dirt Mile

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Very happy to be joined by Flavien Prat. Two wins on the card today in the Breeders' Cup, so thank you for making time to come in here. You've been very busy today.

Start with Ways and Means. It just seemed like a very easy win finally for her. She sort of...(No microphone.)

FLAVIEN PRAT: Yeah, absolutely. I was very delighted for her. She won two years ago at Del Mar and she was one of the favorites. Unfortunately she didn't run well that day, and she missed the Breeders' Cup last year. Just for her win today, I thought she was a well deserved race for her.

THE MODERATOR: This was finally a really good setup. It seemed like everything really finally set up well for her today. Sort of from the start to finish, kind of take us through the trip.

FLAVIEN PRAT: Yeah, I think Chad's done a tremendous job just to bring her here for this race. The race itself, it set up well. Obviously a bit worried after the horse inside of me broke through the gate. Obviously she react to that. It's never a good sign.

But she still jumped out of the gate very well, and then the trip was good and I was able to save ground. I was behind the first group of horses.

Yeah, she had to lose a little bit around the turn just to keep my position, and she had engaged. After that, those two horses in front of me kind of backed up into me. As soon as I got her out, she was just the best today.

THE MODERATOR: It was really one of the easier kind of wins, one of the bigger wins on the card and from yesterday as well.

Not as easy a win. The next one in the Dirt Mile with Further Ado, heavy favorite in there. Very, very close finish. Maybe didn't find himself in a place where he usually is at the beginning of the race.

Again, if you can just take us through kind of start to finish the Dirt Mile.

FLAVIEN PRAT: Well, he drew 1, but he jumped very well out of there. We knew there would be some pace in the race. I was confident that he would handle that kind of scenario in a sense where I rode him last time. I had kind of a pocket trip and he handle it well, so I thought he could handle it today as well.

It just worked out good. We were behind on speed, and I just had to tip him out turning for home. I really thought I had the leader measured, and Owen Almighty just gave a great fight. Thankfully, we came up with the win.

THE MODERATOR: Did you think when you crossed the wire that Further Ado had his nose down at the right time?

FLAVIEN PRAT: I thought his body was ahead of Owen Almighty. I just didn't know if I was in the right balance. I thought it looks like Owen Almighty had the bob on me, but because I was ahead of him, I thought that maybe I could get the best.

THE MODERATOR: It ended up luckily that he got his nose in the right place. We saw the photo, and it was an absolute whisker for the win.

Two fantastic wins today, big day yesterday as well. Congratulations on both of those with Ways and Means in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint and Further Ado in the Dirt Mile. Thanks so much for taking the time to come see us.
