THE MODERATOR: Let's get started. Congratulations, everybody. What an incredible run from Deterministic. Miguel, I'll start with you. Miguel Clement, the trainer, your first Breeder's Cup win. I'm even getting a little bit choked up talking about this.

Deterministic was also your first Grade I win after the passing of your father. What an incredible performance today. Just take us through kind of the emotions of it and the horse and what he's meant to you and your stable.

MIGUEL CLEMENT: Yeah, he's meant the world to us. He gave us great happiness in a dark part of our lives, and he means a tremendous amount to a lot of people. It's very rewarding for us to have our first Breeder's Cup with him.

He's been top class for two seasons now. I thought he has been best turf horse last year and this year as well, if not just in America, but maybe even the world. I'm just delighted we were able to pull it off today.

THE MODERATOR: And today you did beat some of the best in the world. I know you've been very bullish saying that you thought he was the best horse and that today could be the day to turn the tables on Notable Speech.

MIGUEL CLEMENT: Yeah, without a doubt. I think if anything we were a bit unlucky in Woodbine because we lost our six-race winning streak that day just with the way the race was running, race dynamics.

Today was more of a real run race. There was pace in the. It was a full field. I thought he was top class.

At every stage of the race today, I thought he was in control and he looked amazing.

THE MODERATOR: You're very calm for having won your first Breeder's Cup race. Congratulations to you.

I'll get to Kendrick Carmouche. Rider Kendrick, a first for you today. You've been riding in this industry a long time, and I know you have such a special relationship with this horse. What has he meant to you and winning on the big stage here at Keeneland.

KENDRICK CARMOUCHE: After 25 years, maybe 42 years of my life I've been living, I've been riding for 25 years. Coming up through the ranks as a jockey from Philadelphia Park and making it to New York, to Mr. Clement sending this horse my way, it's amazing.

I wake up every morning 5:00, and I try to leave at 10:00 to find one of these horses, but I didn't have to look for him; Mr. Clement sent that to me.

Just being on this stage to show my talent and let this horse turn the tables on such good European horses, I know the stretch beat us last time and beat our streak, but I knew today -- and I have the faith in Miguel that he bought this horse maybe 110 percent today that we could have turned the tables on this horse.

Every step of the race I thought I was a winner. He left there with intentions. I thought I put him in the race where we could make the pace a little fast for the first part and ease off of him. He fell right in my hands. Not one point of the race he was sweaty or thinking about any horse come and catch him. He just flew home.

My first Breeder's Cup. I have to say thanks to Miguel's team and his family. It means a lot to the Carmouche family and everybody around the world to see me in this winners circle today for the Breeder's Cup.

It wouldn't be possible if we wouldn't have this horse, and God put us here for a reason, to get to that circle first.

THE MODERATOR: It worked out today. Vinnie Viola, Ken Langone, owners with the ownership group of this horse. Vinnie, a lot of success, and you hear the emotions from either side of you from Miguel and Kendrick. This horse has obviously taken everybody on a big ride.

VINCENT VIOLA: He's been special since he started out. You come back as a 2-year-old, he won a Dirt to qualify for the derby.

Christophe was smart enough to realize he'd be even better on the turf. He's been a very generous horse from the moment we got him. He's done everything we've asked of him.

Miguel took over from Christophe, and we didn't -- it was really a gift from God. Kendrick says it best, that to have this horse with Kenny as one of the partners -- Ken's a -- well, he's more than a friend, he's like all the brother and role model to me, and he's guided me, and Kevin Warsh and Steve Duncker couldn't be greater.

There's too many people to thank on all of our teams, but I will say this: Miguel, you just executed probably one of the greatest training series of races and wins, maintenance, that's ever been around.

Kendrick, you rode the horse today with extreme confidence, and when you own a horse and your jockey takes him up underneath him like that, it's a fantastic feeling. I can't thank you enough on behalf of everybody.

THE MODERATOR: Ken, before I get to the press, for you, you just heard what Vinnie's had to say and the team up here, how special this whole -- this horse has been and on this day. Just kind of again from you, from your perspective, what does it mean to you?

KEN LANGONE: This is my first experience with a horse, any horse. The first thing is my partners, how much I feel humbled by the fact that I can call Vinnie and Steve and Kevin my partners.

I want to thank Bill Farris because he put up with me for four hours on his mother-in-law's porch as I asked him every question in the world and drove him nuts, and at the end of the thing, I said, how do I get in?

Vinnie, I want to say this to you: There's nobody in the world I know that deserves this success more than Vinnie. He's a special human being, and having Teresa by his side and his love and affection for his family and his friends and his horses and his jockey and his trainer and his friends again -- I can't believe it happened, but I'm glad it did. That's all I can tell you.

THE MODERATOR: A special horse and a first one at that.

KEN LANGONE: Am I ahead or what?

VINCENT VIOLA: Just starting.

Q. How tough was it being in Canada, and how sweet was it to sort of get the revenge on Notable Speech, who's probably the best European older miler?

MIGUEL CLEMENT: Without a doubt. I blame myself for Canada because I think the horse would have been good enough with the right scenario, and we just weren't good enough that day.

He was the best turf horse last year; he dominated the division last year and yet again the best horse this year. He's a special, special athlete. I can't say enough good things about him. The way he moves, he's an efficient mover. Mentally he's remarkable.

You can run him anywhere any distance, from 7 furlongs to probably a mile 3/8 mile; he handles everything. He's just a pure, brilliant athlete. He's a special horse.

Q. I just wanted to follow up on that, Miguel. Despite losing that race at Woodbine, in a way, did that make you even more confident coming into today?

MIGUEL CLEMENT: No, just spending time with the horse every time is remarkable. His last two works I thought were breathtaking. What he did in training is unheard of. He worked a minute flat on the Oklahoma track and went out 1:13 in one. I remember it like the back of my hand. That's spectacular, especially at this time of year.

This horse is special. He's always been special for a long time. He's now getting the credit he deserves because he's top class.
