Quick Quotes
Q. How did your round go today? What did you think away from today?
KELLY TAN: I think I played pretty similar like as yesterday. I felt like my game was good but the score didn't quite show because I think I missed a few putting opportunity.
I hit the ball slightly better. Today was an exception I would say. Not a lot of fault on my long game, and I just hole a couple more putts that kept the momentum.
And, yeah, pretty happy with how I played today.
Q. Weather was really hot. A lot of people were talking about it. How much did that play into your game today?
KELLY TAN: Yeah, I think being Malaysian it's just in your blood. It's hot. I think I probably said it's so hot today many, many times.
But I have a little fan and umbrella, so I just try to keep myself cool as much as I can.
Q. You had six birdies today. That's a really, really great performance. How do you feel about making those and how do you reflect on having more of those tomorrow?
KELLY TAN: Yeah, I just -- you know, I just hit the ball really good. Gave myself a lot of good looks. My speeds were a lot better today on the green. I think that's why I made a few more birdies today.
Now, I still missed a couple. There is no perfect round, but it's really positive for me to see that a little bit of the work I did after the round yesterday helped.
So I hope I can keep this momentum going and minimize the mistakes tomorrow.
Q. So what's the game plan for tomorrow?
KELLY TAN: I like to play a little bit more aggressive. I feel like I hit the ball really good and I think the lines I took today were a little bit more conservative.
You know, there is (indiscernible) on the green about tomorrow's pin position. Some were tucked, some were on the top shelf. I think you need to really hit your numbers, but at the same time I feel like I can choose a more aggressive line to the pin.
On the other note, I also feel I can putt a little firmer, just because my short putt was pretty good today and I felt like the putts I missed today just tend to be a little bit soft.
So if I can just stay aggressive in general with my game tomorrow I think it will be good.
Q. You said you were hitting the ball very good today compared to yesterday. What makes the difference?
KELLY TAN: Yeah, I think there is a fine line. I think today I just really managed the way I visualize the shot. It just came out maybe 8 out of 10 today and 6 out of 10 yesterday. It just matches what I was trying to do to the ball. My awareness was what I wanted to do with the club face and like the swing was very on pointe, and obviously tempo was good.
So I think once you start seeing the shot you want to hit and it's reacting to what you plan to do, it gives you a lot of confidence. That's just how I felt today on the course.
Q. How about the confidence for tomorrow?
KELLY TAN: I think, you know, I feel very, very good with the ball striking. I just need a few to go in earlier in the beginning of the round for birdies to, you know, catch that momentum to get hot is my term.
So, yeah, I think the confidence is there. It's just needs to get on the roll.
