Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Mirabel after the first round of the Maybank Championship. Talk us through your round. Not quite the start you wanted, but any positives?
MIRABEL TING: Not hitting quite as well today. Dispersion was a little bit of everywhere. I hit my drivers really, really well today which probably is the best I've seen all year.
But just a lot of times where I had chances to get it close to the hole and I did not; very, very far from the hole, so couldn't really hole much of a putt today, and so saving and that's about it, yeah.
Q. You had one double.
MIRABEL TING: Yeah.
Q. (Indiscernible.)
MIRABEL TING: Well, on 15 I think I got 180, 181 to the pin, and Michelle told me to hit around 165 but it was downwind at first when -- before I hit the ball, and when I hit the ball the wind just came into the wind. Went into the water and I rehit it into the bunker again with a different club, a longer one. Hit it on the green and one putt, took a double.
Q. Pretty good double.
MIRABEL TING: Yeah, pretty good double and pretty good bogey on 11, too. Hit into the water. Same thing. Drop it in the drop zone, hit it out, make putt for bogey, which is good.
Q. What are you going to do after this? Work on anything? Putting?
MIRABEL TING: No. I think just a lot of tension today, a lot of pressure. I think I'm just going to head home and take a good rest and try not to dwell on the round today that I had and see what happens tomorrow.
Q. (Regarding experience having a difficult day one of competition and bouncing back.)
MIRABEL TING: Yeah, normally I had a very good round first round and just terrible round second round, but I think this is the same issue, same problem that I had in Connecticut where I shot 5-under, had the lead, and shot 5-over the next day.
I think it felt the same: Confusion, loss, and just don't know what happened. Don't really know what to do. But I think at the same time, I'm just going to go out there tomorrow and just play whatever I have, and if it goes well, it goes well. If it doesn't, it's another day to learn.
