Genevieve Ling

Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. We are here with Genevieve Ling. What was going well and not going well?

GENEVIEVE LING: Yeah, I think mostly I just made one big mistake, which was on 14. Other than that I was just kind of keeping myself in the game. My short game was great, and I think you do need a good short game to score well.

So I was relying on that a lot today. My ball striking wasn't the best, but looking forward to the next three days.

Q. What happened on 14?

GENEVIEVE LING: I hit it in the water, so I made double bogey there.

Q. Your experience playing in this difficult weather, difficult course, and with high expectations? So how you sum up your day one?

GENEVIEVE LING: Day one, I mean, this is a four-day tournament for all of us, so I think a lot of golf play. I was just trying to keep myself in it. Unfortunately that one big mistake, but still got three days to catch up, so, yeah.

Q. Anything that surprised you the most? Maybe course, the weather, anything?

GENEVIEVE LING: I think it's just playing very wet, but I think that's expected with the amount of rain that we've been having. So I think the greens and everything are rolling great.

Q. So in the competition, after a tournament, what are things you always do with your caddie, with your coach? Anything?

GENEVIEVE LING: First I'm going just reflect and see if there is anything to change in terms of course management, but I don't think there really was. More of just some range work and I'll be good.

Q. (Regarding day two.)

GENEVIEVE LING: Yeah, for us it just depends a lot on the pin positions. I think finding the ones you can attack and the ones you have to be a little bit more conservative.
