Quick Quotes
Q. All right, joining us after the first round of the Maybank Championship is Pauline Roussin-Bouchard. Pauline, 8under bogey-free. Can you take us through the round.
PAULINE ROUSSIN-BOUCHARD: Through the round. Honestly, just some really, really good shots, great putting. It was -- yeah, my challenge today was just keep the inside voice pretty -- not calm because I'm not a calm person -- but just under control. Just not get ahead of myself in any situation.
So I think I managed to do that pretty well, and I think that's going to be pretty much the goal for the rest of the week. I will to build on today, that's for sure.
Q. You struggled a little bit at this event last year but then had a really good final round. Do you feel like there is anything that that taught you?
PAULINE ROUSSIN-BOUCHARD: I think what last year taught me is that the heat get me like a little like, how do I say that, too calm actually. It kind of makes me too soft in my routine. It's hard to move. Everything is just too hot.
So last year, especially I think for my last two rounds, I knew I had to put like that extra attention on those routines. Have a little pep in my walk basically.
That was my biggest lesson from last year. I think I learn a lot from last week in Korea. I wasn't playing for the win anymore last week because I was way too far back, but it was good day to play to get some momentum going for this week and I think I did that pretty well.
Q. A few people have compared this to Singapore, which you played well in Singapore this year. Do you see those similarities or do you focus one tournament at a time?
PAULINE ROUSSIN-BOUCHARD: Honestly, one tournament at a time. Also like I think it's a very different golf course. The heat is the same, that's for sure, but, new week.
Q. What went well on the course?
PAULINE ROUSSIN-BOUCHARD: I think when days like that go well pretty much everything goes well. Handling your thoughts very well, handling tricky shots, and just -- it's just a good balance of good golf from tee to green.
Q. Do you think that rain last night affected the golf course a bit?
PAULINE ROUSSIN-BOUCHARD: I think the course is looking absolutely amazing and it's playing the same as during the practice rounds. It's like -- it's not like wet, wet and we have like the perfect lie, that definitely helps with some mudball situation.
I don't think it was playing any different, yeah.
