Pit Lane Interview
Q. For you, overtime restart, what and who were you focused on?
WILLIAM BYRON: Yeah, I felt like energy got broken up off of two. I'm like, Man, I got a shot to get clear here. See what happens.
Once I got clear, kind of into three, I had the 41 pushing me. Cole did a great job keeping the momentum going. And then they all kind of split from me. If I can get to the top, maybe I got a shot.
Damn, second sucks. It's good that Kyle won. We worked really well together all day. If I couldn't win, I wanted him to win.
At the end we weren't really connected. I was pushing the 34. They got broken up at the front. Had a shot to win. It's been a rough year in that sense.
Just proud of the fight. The All-Pro Chevy was good. Man, it's fun to come to these places and have chances to make decisions at the end. Thought I made the right one. Out of nowhere I'm like, here comes somebody on the bottom. It was the 5.
Happy for those guys. Sucks to finish second, but it was a good day.
Q. What can you think of this package at Talladega?
WILLIAM BYRON: It was no different, I don't think. It was weird what happened with 20 laps to go. Everyone funneled to the top. These cars are so aero-sensitive side by side. They tend to drag each other back.
You got to run tight to the lane you're around. Got to fix that somehow. I don't know. We got some runs there at the end. It was nice that us and the 5 could kind of come through the field like we could.
Yeah, I mean, it's a good day.
