Quick Quotes
Q. Here after your first round at the BMW Ladies Championship. Walk us through your day today, obviously a little bit chilly and a little bit cold. How is your game feeling?
JULIA LOPEZ: Yeah, I think we all know it's going to be a tough day. It's going to get very windy, and especially when you get on the back nine it gets quite windy out there.
All I try to do is stay on the shots all the time and play a very solid front nine and so that gave me freedom to play the back. All I did was hit a lot of fairways and keep the approaches in a safe place all the time and try hole the putts.
Q. You mentioned a lot of wind. Some players say they like the wind because it frees them up to be a little bit more creative. Is that where you fall in that?
JULIA LOPEZ: Yeah, I think so. I feel like the wind makes it more straight shot and makes your brain works a little harder and it's going to create the shots that you want to do to play with it.
Q. And this golf course, obviously on the water, very beautiful. Do you ever just take a second to take it all in when you're out there?
JULIA LOPEZ: Yeah, especially when it's blue skies out here, the views are insane. It's so pretty and so many trees and the greens and little islands. You lose your mind going in there. It's quite pretty.
Q. You obviously played really well today. Going forward the next three days, what do you focus on to maintain or get a bigger lead over the next three days?
JULIA LOPEZ: I think it's very important out here to hit lots of fairways and lots of greens, and I think that's going to give you the answer. I think the most important thing I think right now is just keep having my fun and try to keep my mind in a really good place. I think that's what keeps you out there and not just going down.
Q. Mentioned trying to have fun out there. What are some things you try to work out to take your mind off golf a little bit and remember you're just having fun?
JULIA LOPEZ: If I tell you what we do today -- we played Sudoku today. We were keeping the mind off golf, and between shots we were trying to compete at Sudoku. I'm like, don't help me, I've got to finish it myself. So we did a bit of that.
Honestly just looking at the views, as well, keeps you grounded and so present in that moment as well.
Q. I'll ask you the most important question: Did you finish your Sudoku?
JULIA LOPEZ: I did.
