Quick Quotes

Q. First round of the BMW Ladies Championship, a little chilly and windy out there today. How do you manage those conditions earlier in the morning?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, my physio did a good job getting me loose this morning. Yeah, I mean, I played here last year. So I kind of had a good idea of how tough it could play when it's this windy.

But I played super solid. Hit it really, really good except for one hole, but overall it was just an awesome day.

Q. Players have mentioned that it can be tricky out there and we have also seen some very low scores. What are some keys to avoid the bogeys but still be able to put yourself in position for birdies?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, fairways and greens, very cliché, but also hitting to the right spots on the greens because they are pretty big. And if you get on the wrong side of slopes -- and yeah, trying to judge the wind as best you can.

Q. We always mention players sometimes say they prefer playing in the wind because it let's them be a little more creative. Is that something that you thrive on?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, I think I'm really good at controlling distance and controlling my ball flight, especially if it gets windy and keeping something down if I have to. I really enjoy it. Yeah, I hit it very good today.

Q. Obviously a very beautiful golf course. You played here last year. Do you have to remind yourself to take in a couple views and just enjoy being out there?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, obviously it's gorgeous, all the holes that are out on the water. Yeah, it's just really pretty. So I definitely catch myself just like gazing out there at times.
