Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Lucy after your first round at the BMW Ladies Championship, 5-under today. Challenging conditions but typical for this golf course. Can you talk a little bit about what you really have to focus on out here to post a low number?

LUCY LI: Yeah, definitely, started out, it was pretty windy, like immediately off the gate, started on the back nine. A couple of tough par 3s, especially 15.

And then the real thing out here is making sure you score around the par 5s because that's like the best place to get your birdies. I managed to birdie all four of the par 5s today, which was really nice.

Q. Talk about the greens. Some players have talked about you have to hit the greens in the right spot or it's going to be a long day on the greens. Is that something you felt like you were doing well out there today?

LUCY LI: Yeah, the greens are really nice this year. They are like in really good condition, and I've been rolling it really good and my speed's been good. I'm just playing every hole as it comes, I guess.

Q. And as you head into the weekend, you mentioned you're taking advantage of the par 5s. Is there anything that you really felt like you maybe could have improved on a lower number out there?

LUCY LI: There was a couple putts that I hit good putts in that just didn't go in. One of them, I was standing over it, and there's no wind when I hit it but then the wind blew like right after I hit it. So I didn't play the wind because it wasn't windy when I made the stroke. Just a couple like those. But you just have accept it when you're playing in windy conditions.
