Golden State Valkyries
Game 3: Postgame
Atlanta Dream 79, Golden State Valkyries 71
Q. What unraveled in the third quarter and what do you look at to do better next time?
GABBY WILLIAMS: I'll have to go back and look at the video. Again, I think we were a bit undisciplined on defense but I'll just have to go back and watch and see where we can adjust.
Q. What was Natalie's message to you, and what was your message to each other after the game?
GABBY WILLIAMS: Just to remember how long of a series this is and just how we can bounce back, rest, recover, remind ourselves of what motivates us and just stay together.
Q. What is it that y'all have to improve on in the next two days to prepare for Saturday's game against the Dream?
TIFFANY HAYES: Mostly like she said, our discipline and our fight. This game, she wanted it more than us, and that's -- that's not who we are. That's not who we've been and that's not how we got here. So I think we have to get a bit more of that in our tank.
Q. Is your knee okay?
GABBY WILLIAMS: Yes.
Q. And offensively, what wasn't working tonight?
GABBY WILLIAMS: What wasn't working?
Q. Yeah.
GABBY WILLIAMS: Again, I think sometimes shots don't fall. We don't like to make it about offense. She scored 95 points -- 97. We have no chance. We just have to go back to our defense, and that will get our offense going. `
Q. Over the past two games, what has Atlanta been doing that's made ball security such a weak point?
GABBY WILLIAMS: Mic keeps going in and out.
Q. Speaking to the turnovers, what has Atlanta been doing that has made ball security a weak point?
TIFFANY HAYES: I think it's a lot of us being undisciplined. Being really loose with the ball. Again, very uncharacteristic of us. Like I said, we have to get back to who we are, and if they bring some pressure, we've got to stay together and we've got to not get flustered just giving the ball up.
I think it's us that has to make some adjustments.
Q. You spent more time guarding Jordin especially at the beginning. What was the goal and how do you think that matchup worked out?
GABBY WILLIAMS: Yeah, just an adjustment that we made. Like I said, we'll look back on the film. See what happened.
Q. You both mentioned being undisciplined the last couple of games. Is that surprising at this point of the season, or what do you attest that to?
TIFFANY HAYES: Definitely surprising. Like we said, it's very uncharacteristic of us. We know we're going to make mistakes. Everything is not perfect. It's a series for a reason. We all just talked together after the game and let each other know that this is series for a reason. We can adjust but we have to do it, now and we have to stay together to do it.
Q. You get an extra day off before Game 4. How do you go about regrouping after the last two and trying to come in Saturday to get the win?
GABBY WILLIAMS: First and foremost, rest, recover. And then look back on -- I'm being redundant but look back at the film, see what we can adjust, and have a good day of practice, reconnect, regroup, and get ready for Saturday.
Q. You guys are no stranger to loud arenas. What was the after like for you guys as the opponents today?
TIFFANY HAYES: It was cool. I mean, I'm used to it. We're used to it. It was a nice atmosphere. We're happy everyone came and showed love to women's basketball.
