Q. Three birdies in your first four holes. How important was it to get off to a good start and really ride the momentum of the round today?

SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, it was. I got off to a great start and got myself back in the tournament. Then I just went stale on the back nine. Played all right, but just couldn't convert any chances.

I felt like as the day went on, yeah, especially as it got late the evening the moisture from the rains, just struggled with the play some.

But like I was going out this morning, honestly I was half packing my bags to go home. I had 12 holes left. Thought I needed to shoot 4-under in the 12 holes and shot 7, so yeah, pretty happy with my whole day's work.

Had 30 holes and shot 10-under for 30 holes. You know, hopefully I can go out and shoot a low one tomorrow. I'm too far back, but hopefully I can.

Q. Look, this is a track that you tend to play well on. You finished third in India here last year. What is it about this type of challenge?

SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, it's just position of golf. You just knock it around, and it suits mid-iron, and my mid-iron play was awful the first day, and even the first round and a half my iron play was very bad, bad as it's been in a while.

I don't know what happened because my warmup session was poor this morning and I went out and played great this morning. Hit it okay coming in there as well.

Yeah, like I said, disappointed not to pick up a few more birdies but a low one tomorrow, something in the mid-60s, and it's a good week.

Q. Your game is in a great place. Big win in Ireland. How much belief is there in your game?

SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, it's nice. Been a tough year. Few near misses. I lost a bit of confidence from that. To get to Ireland and do what I did was amazing. I think no matter what happens tomorrow or the rest of the year, I'll sit down at Christmas and have the Irish Open trophy on the table and I'll be happy with what I have.

I'm going to go home over the winter and work hard and get back out and have a lot of goals to achieve next year, and I'm very excited and very driven for that as well.
