BUICK LPGA SHANGHAI

October 16, 2026

Grace Kim

Shanghai, China

Qizhong Garden Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Grace after her second round at the Buick LPGA Shanghai. Tough conditions out there today. Just kind of had to mentally stay in it. How did you just push through everything and still put together a pretty decent round out there today?

GRACE KIM: I think knowing this is the beast of a golf course. And with the wind picking up today, like I just had to play as most patient as possible. You know, we had a bit of gusts here and there and a few waits as well, so I feel like the momentum kind of kept getting stopped.

Knowing that, I mean, nothing new. We've done that before. Yeah, just I guess made sure I snacked here and there and switched on and off properly.

Q. And a lot of low scores yesterday; not so many today. What do you feel were some of the biggest differences between the two?

GRACE KIM: I think the wind picking up definitely made a huge difference. You know, a couple of tees were up today, but the long holes -- the holes that were already long made it even longer with the wind strength. So having 3-wood into 18, I've never been so nervous I think this week.

So things like that. I think make sure that you really try to stay in it and stay present.

Q. And then major champ yourself. Does this feel like a major championship course after two rounds?

GRACE KIM: Yes, definitely. I can tell you that for sure. Obviously there is a history of the men playing and I think it definitely suits the men a little bit more than us.

But we are always up for a challenge, so, yeah, I guess we're just going to have to stick it out for the weekend.

Q. Last one from me. Looks like the greens kind of firmed up out there today compared to yesterday. How much does that change your strategy?

GRACE KIM: Yeah, there was a couple holes where I honestly just tried to play it for the bunker instead of the green knowing that greens have firmed up.

I guess some of the pin positions were tucked as well or it was kind of on a downslope of our landing area.

Yeah, just strategically you really had to be precise. Again, I think there was two holes where I played for the bunker.

Yeah, making sure you're not trying to be too down on yourself for missing the fairway and having to play into a bunker. You just have to make up and down. Again, like you said, it was really tough out there today.
