Thomas Detry

New Delhi, Delhi, India

Delhi GC

Quick Quotes

Q. ...in India on the DP World Tour, and it's not really shown, has it? So how are things, the way you managed...

THOMAS DETRY: (Indiscernible), to be honest. I got here Tuesday morning, didn't really know what to expect of the golf course. It's a tightest golf course I've ever played. I don't actually have the driver in the bag, so I took the driver out, swapped with a 3-iron so I have a little bit more options off the tee.

No, got off to a great start, playing well. Had a little mistake where I lost the ball on hole number six, and then bounced nicely from that and played great the rest of the day.

Q. Been like a challenge that we're really used to with the many courses. Is that the kind of challenge that you enjoy?

THOMAS DETRY: Yeah, it's amazing. Some of the golf courses in America where you really have just hit to driver and don't even think about it. You just have to hit your driver as far as you can.

Here it's all about like shaping your way around the golf course, making sure you're not in the rough because the rough is really thick, especially with all the rain that came down. It's making the rough even heavier. Yeah, you just have to think your way around and we did a good job.

Q. There was a little blip on 15. How pleased are you with the way you managed to turns things round?

THOMAS DETRY: Yeah, yeah, that's what I said. On 15, my sixth hole, yeah, just slipped out of my hands. (Indiscernible) a little bit. My club just (indiscernible.) It was way left.

But I bounced back really nice with that.

Birdie 17.

Birdie 18.

And the rest is history. Had a little storm delay there, but I stayed focused and got off to a good -- finished it off really nicely.

Q. You had your lowest round of the season at Dunhill a few weeks ago; another low one here. How important is it to find that form at this point in the season?

THOMAS DETRY: Yeah, this is my seventh week in a row, so I'm fighting hard to keep my card this week. I think I should be fine, but my goal to reach the Middle East events, Abu Dhabi, Dubai. Great to play in those two events in a couple weeks, so I'm hopeful. I got three big more days ahead of me to secure my spot.
