Pit Lane Interview
Q. Sixth for Kyle Larson today and he increases his lead over the rest of the field, over Denny Hamlin in particular today. At the end there I felt like you knew the length of the run and you were in a position of power there. Was your car out of control as well or was it just managing the tires?
KYLE LARSON: I was not in a position of power. I was hanging on. Yeah, honestly I thought I was going to manage that run well. The top two pushed really hard, and I could see Denny kind of settled in, so I was settling in just to try to make my tires live.
Yeah, just got really, really loose on that run. Just not sure if maybe me not pushing enough kind of made the balance shifted rearward, using the rears too much, and I was just hanging on the last 15, 18 laps.
Yeah, happy to still come in with a sixth and extend the points lead, but there was a couple other guys that kind of closed that gap a little bit.
But yeah, all in all, a good day, a stage win, extend the point lead. It's good, but want to be a little bit better.
Q. Lap 123 restart; Denny comes charging through. Were you expecting that? And as the points leader in this championship, are you kind of like, yeah, I see those things coming sometimes?
KYLE LARSON: I left the door open, so yeah, I kind of shaded high kind of thinking he might go high and then he had a lot of turn to fill that gap and I didn't get it closed in time. Yeah, I put myself in that position, and just glad I didn't wreck myself and make a good day bad.
Glad to rebound from that as well. I fell back to seventh or eighth and still finished the stage in fourth or fifth, I think. Just a good solid day. That's what we've had. I feel like we maximized it again.
Yeah, happy with the HendrickCars.com Chevy and look forward to the next handful.
