NL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: DODGERS VS BREWERS

October 11, 2026

Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

American Family Field

Milwaukee Brewers

Pregame 1 Press Conference

Q. Having seen a lot of the Dodgers, including in the playoffs last year, and knowing what kind of starting pitching they have, what do you think about that challenge, and what experience lessons can you take away from what happened last year in the NLCS that you think will help your team this year?

JACKSON CHOURIO: Like you said, we've got plenty of experience against this group and this group of starters. They're a good group of pitchers, but we're a good group of hitters over here. The goal is the same as always, to go out there and compete and give the best versions of ourselves that we can.

Q. Your parents have been able to watch you during this postseason. What can you share about the impact that both of them have had on your journey in life and in baseball?

JACKSON CHOURIO: Yeah, definitely very special, the best parents in the world if you ask me. I think everything that I am today, I owe to them. It's very special to be able to have their support and to have them here present with me. It definitely means a lot to me.

Q. To see the growth in William Contreras' performance this season, you know him so well, what are the reasons why you think his game has taken the next level during the course of this year?

JACKSON CHOURIO: The same as always with William. He plays strong, and he doesn't like to lose. William is a competitor that's never going to back down, and I think that competitiveness and his desire to win is what drives him.

Q. We always hear about how young you are, you're only 22 years old. Do you feel young? Do you feel like you're one of the young guys in the club? Given the fact that you're in your third playoffs, do you feel like more experienced, older than your age?

JACKSON CHOURIO: Once I take the field, I forget about age. I go out there, and I always try to do the best that I possibly can. It doesn't matter who's on the other side.

Again, once I take the field, I'm out there to compete, and it doesn't matter who's on the other side.

Q. Has it fully sunk in for you that you're already the franchise playoff leader in homers and RBIs? What is it about this stage that seems to bring the most out of you?

JACKSON CHOURIO: I think to the first part, it's a great honor to be on that list with a lot of great players that have passed through here. It makes me very prideful. Again, it's a great honor to be on that.

Then when it comes to the postseason, I like playing with the adrenaline that the game brings whenever you have no choice but to win. So I think that's always been able to bring out -- I'm not exactly sure why, but I think that's always been able to bring out the best in me. For whatever reason, I've always liked playing with that pressure.

Q. What do you know about playing in the postseason now that you didn't realize before your first playoff game?

JACKSON CHOURIO: Good question, but no, I think maybe in my first year I didn't -- wasn't quite aware of all the pressure that it brings. Now I think that I'm able to approach it more calmly and approach each day with a little bit more calm mindset and know I'm going to be able to -- know what I'm facing each day.

Q. To that point, what's different about this team compared to last year's team that entered the NLCS?

JACKSON CHOURIO: To put it simply, I consider us to have a better offense and to have better pitching as well. I think we're certainly ready to compete.

Q. For those of us that are around you a lot, you're usually smiling and in a great mood. How does that help you in big situations to deliver?

JACKSON CHOURIO: Like I said before, I like to enjoy the game. I like to enjoy the game, and I feel like I was born to play baseball. I try to remind myself of that as much as I can before I go out there to enjoy it, to enjoy the game, and to give everything I've got.

Q. (Question in reference to the similarities between Team Venezuela and Milwaukee Brewers.)

JACKSON CHOURIO: In reference to just the similarities between the team that won the World Baseball Classic, Team Venezuela, and the team that we have here in Milwaukee, the team has a lot of similarities in the way we're able to play defense. The pitching is excellent, and both teams were able to do the little things that it takes to win.

I think Team Venezuela, I had the pleasure to play with a lot of great stars in the game, but likewise here, being able to play with guys like Contreras, Yelich, that's just to name a few, I think that helps. Again, I think both teams have a great chemistry that's been able to help both of us succeed.

Q. Garrett Mitchell has talked about how important communication has been with you, but a lot of new baseball fans have asked us reporters, how does that work? One speaks Spanish. One speaks English. You speak a little English, right? Can you tell us how does that work? Do you prefer to speak some English, or do they speak a little Spanish with you? On the field, how does that work?

JACKSON CHOURIO: While I may not know it all in English, I definitely think I have what's necessary to be able to communicate with my teammates. I think it's important that they feel that's important for me. In any given moment if there's anything they need from me, I'm able to communicate that, and the same vice versa.

Yeah, obviously I know that the communication and learning more English is extremely important. So I just want them to know that I'll be able to do that and in the means that are necessary.

Q. (Question in reference to the difference between Jackson last year and Jackson this year.)

JACKSON CHOURIO: In reference to what's the difference between me last year and me this year, more experience and being stronger. But in reference to being able to play winter ball, I think the experience that being able to play for Zulia down there in Venezuela, it only helped me.

I always said, if I ever have the opportunity to go down there and play, I'm going to do it. Just the confidence it was able to give my game and, again, the experience it was able to give to me was tremendous. It's something that, again, I'm never going to shy away from if I have the opportunity to do so.

Q. How many times did you go back and watch the video of your hit against Mason Miller in Game 2 last series?

JACKSON CHOURIO: A lot, but I think at the same time, I really tried to not watch it too much because it happened, it's in the past now, and now the focus shifts to this series. Things that I can do in order to help this team win this series and these games that we have coming up against these guys.
