Felix Auger-Aliassime

Mixed Zone

F. AUGER-ALIASSIME/C. Ugo Carabelli

4-6, 7-6, 7-5

Q. Can you just take us through the match, particularly the slow start in the first set and coming back to win.

FELIX AUGER-ALIASSIME: Yeah, well, actually, I think for, like if I look at loss of first serves, or first set, sorry, overall in my career, like it was a good first set loss. Like, in a way I thought I was creating a lot of chances to break, and just couldn't do it.

I mean, sometimes he came up with the goods and played great points. Sometimes I didn't and I missed some returns. But all in all I felt like I've been working on connecting on more first-serve returns and making the guy work, and I was able to do that quite a bit.

I actually felt like I was hitting the ball well, and I just played a poor game on my serve and that was it. I should have probably, you know, it clipped the line, probably should have come back at 5-All, right, in the first, and then let's see what happens. So, I felt like the better player during the match, but, yeah, it's okay.

Q. So having said that, did you think that you needed to change your game in the second set or not?

FELIX AUGER-ALIASSIME: Not really. I felt like the break was coming, having had so many opportunities. I mean, I was right, I broke right away, took the lead, so then things got a bit more comfortable. Even though he broke back, I felt like in the tiebreak I could back myself that I was going to get through.

But, yeah, a lot of time on court, three hours, so a lot of ups and downs. So, let's see, in the next few rounds, I'm going to try to make all this a bit tighter.
