Mixed Zone

H. HURKACZ/N. Djokovic

6-4, 6-3

Q. After eight straight losses to Novak, how did you make it in straight sets today?

HUBERT HURKACZ: Yes, it was a challenging match, which always it's a big fight with Novak.

I was pleased with how I performed, how I served aggressive in important moments.

Q. Do you feel like Novak was kind of lack of energy at the end of the match?

HUBERT HURKACZ: Well, I mean, of course he was struggling a bit. Obviously, he had an amazing week in Beijing, so it's not easy to recover just after a few days.

Q. How about yourself, you also retired from Beijing semifinal, how did you find your energy again in Shanghai?

HUBERT HURKACZ: Yeah, it was not easy, but we did everything to recover fully to then play some good tennis here.

Q. Do you feel everything is coming back for you in Shanghai this year?

HUBERT HURKACZ: Yeah, definitely, it's a special place for me here in Shanghai. It really means a lot to play such a good match and win against Novak.

Q. What do you think about the next match?

HUBERT HURKACZ: Well, I don't know (laughing). I don't know who I'm going to play yet.

Q. Musetti or Zhou Yi.

HUBERT HURKACZ: Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, it's going to be a big challenge. It's always challenging. So, I mean, we still don't know who is going to win.

Q. You already are in China for like three weeks. Do you miss your home?

HUBERT HURKACZ: No, I've been enjoying actually here a lot. I've been playing a lot of matches, and been having fun here. As a tennis player, you travel so much, so you get used to enjoying different places around. Yeah, I've been really having fun here.

Q. You were doing great in Chengdu, in Beijing, also here. Any secret to doing great in China?

HUBERT HURKACZ: No, I mean, just probably hard work. I've been putting so much work before those weeks, and, I mean, it's been paying off.

The last few months we've been, yeah, just working very hard and, you know, maybe it wasn't coming up, but I think things start to come together now.
