NL DIVISION SERIES: BRAVES VS DODGERS

October 7, 2026

Andy Pages

Edwin Diaz

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Truist Park

Los Angeles Dodgers

Postgame 4 Press Conference

Dodgers - 4, Braves - 1

Q. Edwin, obviously this season hasn't gone the way you hoped but games like this are why they brought you here. How does it feel to be in that closer role?

EDWIN DIAZ: I feel great. I'm happy what I'm doing right now. I put in a lot of work this season. I went to the IL with elbow surgery. Came back, didn't pitch the way everybody was expecting. Went back to IL with my neck.

Then I started working on those things. Those things paid off at the end of the day. Last week and a half of the season, I did my job.

The team trusts me. I think that was the most important thing for me, the team trust me. They give me the ball every single day. And the last two nights it's been amazing. That's why I came here to win games and close games like this one. So I'm really happy right now.

Q. Andy, can you take us through that at-bat right there? Bases loaded, two outs, 3-2 pitch, kind of everything you dream about as a kid?

ANDY PAGES: I've been preparing myself all series for a moment like that, give myself an opportunity, get a good pitch to hit. And luckily I was able to put a good swing on a pitch.

Q. When you get that hit, what's that moment like? You're standing on first, the dugout goes nuts, what's that moment like for you?

ANDY PAGES: Obviously a really exciting moment. Very happy for the team at that time. But honestly, the only thing in mind was just putting the team ahead, putting pressure on them. And our bullpen, our pitching was able to do the job and secure this win.

Q. Edwin, how important is it to close this one out today? You get a couple of days of rest and get ready for the Brewers or Padres?

EDWIN DIAZ: It was a great win. We came here with the goal to win the series in Atlanta and we did it. Now we go back home but we have to still work, we have to put a lot of work together.

Our goal is to win the World Series, not this the series. We've got eight more wins to go. So our goal is win those eight games. And at the end of the day when we win those eight games, we celebrate.

Now we're going back to LA, keep working. I know all the guys are on the same track. Now we just celebrate a little bit, go back to LA, get working and be ready for Sunday.

Q. I know you all know what the end is supposed to be, the end goal. But to see you all be able to celebrate and celebrate each other, I know it doesn't get boring, but how do you keep interested in being able to enjoy the moment, knowing that the end goal is winning the championship?

EDWIN DIAZ: This win is just part of the trail to win the World Series. We have to enjoy the moment, like you say. This is a start to build something for the World Series, and that's why we are celebrating today.

We were looking for this, to win this series. And we start with the right leg. Now we've just got to keep working as a team, putting a lot of work together, like I said, be ready for Sunday. Whoever we play, we'll be ready. And just enjoy the time.

ANDY PAGES: Just enjoy the moment. Obviously we have big teams, big series coming up. We're going to face tough teams, so prepare for those moments, but also take advantage of the opportunity of being here and enjoying these moments. And knowing that our ultimate goal is to win the World Series. So focus on that.
