Q. Trevor, you started out with this organization. You were drafted by them a long time ago obviously. I was wondering what your memories were of pitching in this organization. Also, what kind of pitcher were you when you came out of Loyola Marymount?
TREVOR MEGILL: I wasn't throwing the four-seam like I was back then. 92, trying to hit spots, curveball mixed in there, maybe a slider. I just remember a lot of good ballplayers around me in the organization that had been traded and branched off to other teams that had success at other places.
The farm system when I was here was strong, and they did a good job of recognizing talent and doing what they did with it.
Q. Trevor, there was so much made of like the bullpen matchups in this series. I'm just wondering how you feel like the group has been able to cover so many innings and just hold the line like you guys have done all season?
TREVOR MEGILL: I think you've seen it on both sides. We've covered a lot of innings, both teams, and we both performed pretty well. I think very close games, one-run games, tie games going into the ninth inning, definitely living up to the hype with the bullpen matchups between us.
Q. Shane, when the season began, could you have imagined being in this position? And just what has been the experience out there knowing you could get called to come into a postseason game as a reliever?
SHANE DROHAN: Definitely not coming into the season, but that's just how baseball can play out. We had some injuries, and they kind of looked to me to step up originally out of the pen, and then some injuries in the starting rotation, and I had to move there. Now I'm kind of back in the bullpen just waiting for my name to be called.
It's been really cool, amazing atmospheres. There's nothing more you could ask for.
Q. Trevor, as a closer, you probably have a good opinion on this. Why are closeout games so difficult to finish off?
TREVOR MEGILL: I feel like the hitters, they've seen pitching for eight innings before that. They're a little bit nervous system, whatever you want to call it, is just a little more wired and dialed in by then. And just the competitive nature of athletes in general, just don't want to be the last out.
I think you get your best effort from both parties in that ninth inning.
Q. Shane, being a part of this pitching staff for the first time this season, how have you felt that the pitching staff overall just feeds off each other, whether it be starters, relievers, and just builds off each other's success?
SHANE DROHAN: Great. I feel like we've done that all year. We've had pockets in time where the starting rotation was going really well and going deep into games. Then other times where starters were struggling and we really relied on the bullpen, and they stepped up. That's the reason why we got so many wins this year.
It's just the overall consistency from the staff. It's a huge part of success.
Q. Trevor, usually when we see you coming and going from the clubhouse, you're with Abner. Can you explain that relationship? You come from totally different parts of the world, different guys, but it seems like you've become really close. How has that developed?
TREVOR MEGILL: It kind of started off with him his first year up just asking questions and hanging out in the hotel rooms and whatnot, kind of this is what to expect out of the Brewers organization and kind of what you need to do to be successful up here. It all kind of just started for him branching out.
He's got a great personality. He's a wonderful human being. A little crazy at times, as we all know, but that's what makes us love him so much is just that passion and fire. Very easy to be drawn towards a person like that whose sole purpose out here is to win games and to compete.
Q. Can you spell out what you mean by that, the crazy? Maybe people might say that in general about the best relievers have a little bit of that.
TREVOR MEGILL: Yeah, like you say, he comes from a different part of the world, and he's seen different things than other people have seen. Just the way he competes and just his personality is very fiery. I don't know how else to describe that. The celebrations just kind of after he does well in an inning, he just shows his emotion on his sleeve and puts it all out there on the line.
