CHINA OPEN

October 6, 2026

Mirra Andreeva

Beijing, China

Mixed Zone

M. ANDREEVA/D. Snigur

6-2, 6-2

Q. How would you assess your performance today? Which part of your game did you think you did well today?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: I think today I was serving well. I also think that I was defending well also because she's a very aggressive player. I thought being a good defender today would be good and useful.

I think I did these two things the best today.

Q. You've reached your 11th quarterfinal of the season. Where you are in your career, in the season, is it almost an expectation for you to be in the final eight every time?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: I think at some point, maybe in 2025, like, most of the time the quarterfinal would be the last stage where I would advance in the tournaments. I really try not to think about it because I feel like I reach quarterfinals pretty often. Where I struggle is to go further in the tournaments - sometimes. Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it doesn't.

I really try my best to keep up the same level, keep up the intensity because I really want to advance further and win more matches.

Q. I think you went to practice after that match. It's late in the tournament for something like that. What was the thinking behind hitting the practice courts?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Just so you know, it was not my idea. It was not up to me (smiling).

It's the second day in a row they kind of caught me off guard. Conchita told me, We have practice court eight. I'm like, Yeah, great, exciting.

Today we just did a lot of returns 'cause I'm going to play against the big servers, big hitters. We just did a lot of returns. I don't know, I did a lot of just basic stuff to kind of clean and feel good after the match, clean my shots.

I think we did 30 minutes, not more. Maybe. I don't know. That's it (smiling).

Q. Is your form being improved during the China Open?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: I do think with every match that I play I play better. I think that's a good sign. I also feel more comfortable with every match that I get to play.

I definitely think that today I would say it was the most, I don't know... It was the better match out of all of the three that I had.

Q. I know your Chinese nickname is (Chinese). Does that go with your personality or opposite?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: First of all, I love when people come up with a lot of different nicknames. I love when they think how to call a certain person in a different way.

I do think it kind of matches with my personality on and off the court. I do have a little spice sometimes on the court. Sometimes off the court, as well. We all know it (smiling).

I do think it matches with my personality.

Q. The LED screens in the Diamond Court, have you noticed them flickering?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yes. Good thing that it didn't happen with me. I did see that Zverev, the day before yesterday, I was watching the match on TV, and I did see he was complaining a little bit.

It's a good thing it didn't happen to me. I didn't complain yet - at least about that.

Q. What are your thoughts on Novak, what he's been able to do this week after really struggling during the summer, playing incredibly well? For a young player to see somebody older do what he's doing, what inspiration do you take from that?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: I think what he's doing is unbelievable. He's achieved, like, I don't know, he won everything that there is possible to win. He still finds the motivation to play these tournaments, fight and win and beat so many great players.

I think, of course, it's a big inspiration for a lot of different players to see that even with such a legend that won everything, he still likes to play, he still enjoys, he still fights. He's fighting for I don't know what is his motivation. Maybe he just likes to play tennis and likes to win.

For sure he's a huge inspiration personally for me.

Q. Looking ahead, you'll play Ekaterina in the next round. Thoughts on that match?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Well, one thing I do know for sure, I didn't beat her yet (smiling). I will try my best with Conchita to see how I play against her, what to change, try something new that I can try to bring into the match.

For sure it's going to be a great, entertaining match. She's a great player. I don't know. Pretty excited to finally get that first win against her.
