NL DIVISION SERIES: PADRES VS BREWERS

October 6, 2026

Bradgley Rodriguez

San Diego, California, USA

Petco Park

San Diego Padres

Pregame 3 Press Conference

Q. How are you feeling? How's the team feeling? How's everyone feeling in that clubhouse?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: We're all doing great. We have the same inspiration that we've had all season long. We come with the same mentality as we did after the All-Star break, is to try to win as many games as we can, and we all do it united.

Q. You made your debut last year, and you're such an important piece of the bullpen this year. What do you think has made the biggest difference in this year's time that's allowed you to find so much success at the Big League level?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: These are the opportunities that you're always looking forward to. They've given me this chance to shine out there and give all the best that I can to be out there too. That's obviously the team giving me the opportunity to be out there.

Q. And this bullpen as a whole, what stands out to you about this group of guys and what you've been asked to do this year and how you guys have showed up for this team?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: There's no better feeling and happiness that we get from getting that call when the game is on the line and being able to get in and hold the game for our team. So I think for us it's just grateful for all of us to get those opportunities at the end of the day.

Q. As the season's gone on, you've kind of been thrown into lots of different situations, could be any inning. How have you kind of dealt with the challenge of not knowing you could be in the game in the second inning, could be in the game in the seventh inning? How have you dealt with that in the bullpen and being prepared for it?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: I think it's all about the communication we have in the bullpen. Whether it is the second or the seventh, whatever it is, we're always ready for that time. Whenever the phone call comes in and they call my name, I'm always ready for it.

It's not about doing any more or less than I normally do. It's doing my best every time to get myself ready to go into the game.

Q. You said communication. Is that before the game you have a pretty good idea of when you might be used, so when the call comes, you have a hunch it's you?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: It's normally when we get out to the bullpen, we go over what the plan looks like today. That doesn't mean things can't go awry and we'll have to change our plans at the end of the day or whatever happens, we might get called in beforehand. It's all about just being ready at the end of the day, make sure you're ready when your name is called.

Q. What do you think about having the bullpen ready at any moment at any time, especially in these situations when you're at a win or go home?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: I think Pivetta will be able to bring us that opportunity and give us some length today, but whatever the situation is, it doesn't matter what it is, we'll be able to be ready. Whenever that time comes, we'll be out there.

Q. If you wouldn't mind kind of reflecting on your personal journey. Just a year ago, you're on the roster for the Cubs series in the playoffs, but you don't appear. You'd only been in the Big Leagues really for a few years at that point. Now you're in here in front of a roomful of reporters. Fernando is coming in next. You're a key part of this great bullpen. Just what the last year was been like for you.

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: Just super grateful, super grateful that I've been given this opportunity this year. Obviously I didn't get to make an appearance last year, like you said, in the postseason, but I've been able to establish my role and do my job as best as I can to make sure that I'm out there with all those other guys and competing at the end of the day.

Q. Do you feel like you've come a long way since last year, or it's just a matter of getting experience?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: I think it's just the way that I've been able to kind of construct everything and being able to learn what that looks like at the end of the day. Whether you lose, whether you win at the end of the day, you're still learning something. I think the development over time I've been able to accomplish that, and even now I'm still learning.

Q. Obviously the bullpen's been used up a lot. Every game has been decided by a run. How do you feel like the bullpen can accomplish what they need to do tonight, a victory in front of these fans at Petco Park?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: I think we're ready regardless or not. Obviously this has been a competitive series, but that doesn't mean we're going to fall back. We have the potential to do big things, and we have the integrity as well to go out there and do the job at hand.

Q. How has Ruben been able to help you out in this initial part of your career?

BRADGLEY RODRIGUEZ: He's been super helpful. I'm kind of a person that really likes to take a lot of positive information and fill my head with a lot of stuff I've done and what can I improve as well.

So after every outing there's a little detail that might come in where it's like, hey -- I would ask, How did I do last time? There's a small, little thing that I have to work on afterwards. Or, Hey, what did I do well in this situation? And Ruben would tell me, Hey, you might want to work on something else.

So I'm just a person that likes to be filled up with a lot of information that will help me out at the end of the day.
