BANK OF UTAH CHAMPIONSHIP

October 4, 2026

Austin Smotherman

Ivins, Utah, USA

Black Desert Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. It is tough to win out here. You so proved it. You had so many chances coming down the stretch, and the putter didn't quite cooperate. Here you are a PGA Tour winner. Give me your thoughts on the day.

AUSTIN SMOTHERMAN: One more lag putt, which is just my nemesis down the stretch, which is all I was asking for coming to 18. A lot of good shots, those drives coming down the stretch as well, just piping it down the middle of the fairway, being committed.

It didn't have to be pretty. I got some nice bounces. Made some poor swings, but this game doesn't have to be perfect.

Q. Absolutely. Golf is not a game of perfect. You got a bad bounce and a bad lie in the bunker at 13. Then you had a 6-footer for eagle, then you had a 6-footer for birdie on 14 and 15. Go ahead and take me through the birdie putt at the par-4 16th hole. And look at the video someday and see how close you cleared the bunker by. And the drive on 18 was wonderful too.

AUSTIN SMOTHERMAN: I saw that bounce off the bunker edge. It was one I was trying to keep right all day with the soft pitching wedge. If I tugged it, kind of like I hit the shot on 17, on the very next swing, it probably would have been long left and been in a dicey spot.

I hit it to the fat side. I had a bit of a lead, I guess, and trusted myself on the 18th.
