Quick Quotes
Q. 2-under par 69 out there. You fought hard. Some comments on the day.
DOUG GHIM: It was a tough one, but it always is when you're in the final group. Got off to a decent start. Unfortunately, hit it in the rocks again on 9, which hurt. A couple of shots I would like to have back. I gave it the best that I could.
Even if I did fall short, it was a positive finish for me and my team. Means a lot going into next year.
Q. You have two bogeys on the back, 13 and 15, but you bounced back with each of those with a birdie on the next hole. Talk about that four-hole stretch and how that played into the finish as well.
DOUG GHIM: I think me and Austin were both kind of feeling it. I think Austin made kind of an unfortunate double, I would call it, on 13, and me missing a short putt there was kind of not expected, I think, from either of us.
Then he goes and hits a great tee ball on 14 and I got an up-and-down from a tricky spot. Him missing the putt kind of left the door a little bit open, but unfortunately, I closed it on myself by three-putting the next. Austin actually had a couple of opportunities to really, really close the door, and it just goes to show how hard it is to finish a tournament.
Yeah, I was hoping to get maybe a chance on 18. Tried to be a little aggressive on the 7-wood just to give Austin a little bit to think about. Hit a great first putt and gave it a run for the chip, but unfortunately it was just a little short.
Q. Disappointed, but how much fun was that out there today for you?
DOUG GHIM: Absolutely. It's what we play for, it's what we practice for. Obviously the money and the points are great, but as a little kid trying to win a PGA Tour event, just a chance to do that is a dream come true.
I was talking about it with Peter Malnati Thursday and Friday. We used to get really excited just to play courses that pros played at, and to think that as a 30-year-old, to have done this for my seventh season and to get an opportunity like today and what I've had in the past and hopefully more in the future, it's such a privilege.
Today was Austin's day. I did everything that I could, and hopefully I'll learn from some of the mistakes and be a little bit more comfortable next time. But always grateful.
