BANK OF UTAH CHAMPIONSHIP

October 3, 2026

Ben James

Ivins, Utah, USA

Black Desert Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. Bogey-free 64, if we can get some comments on an excellent round.

BEN JAMES: Yeah, did nothing crazy but did everything I needed to do. Kept the ball below the hole, hit the fairways and putted well inside 10 feet, which I needed to do. Didn't make any crazy bombs on the greens but just my distance control was nice and putted pretty solidly.

Q. 13 of 14 fairways, No. 1 in tee to green. Comment a little bit about both of those.

BEN JAMES: Distance control was great. Again, had a lot of good numbers. Just hole high a lot of (video glitch) we were in between clubs where to position the ball on the green. Outside of that, obviously goal one is hit the fairway, which I did too.

Q. The progression is in your favor for tomorrow, third at Wyndham, second in Asheville. Talk about what a win would mean for you tomorrow.

BEN JAMES: It would be great, obviously, but I'm just trying to play the best golf I can and just continue doing what I'm doing. I'm doing a lot of good things right now, and just having a positive attitude.

Q. You've had a knack for going extremely low in your last two rounds at both of those events, and you probably will have to go extremely low again tomorrow with the scoring out here. What can you pull from those experiences to play your best tomorrow?

BEN JAMES: Yeah, I really didn't care much on those Sundays. I had nothing to lose, and I have nothing to lose tomorrow. I'm going to play the best I can, try to hit smart shots, and if the putts fall, great. If not, go on to the next week.

Q. Are you getting more comfortable week in and week out, out on Tour, as you navigate Tour life?

BEN JAMES: I would like to say so. I've been meeting a lot of new friends, making more friends and getting used to the travel. So I would say so, yeah.

Q. You said earlier in the year for a few events you were red hot out of the gate and just trying to get comfortable. Now would you say after the last few finishes you've had, do you feel like you're ready to win now, comfortable and ready to win?

BEN JAMES: Yeah, I'm just trying to play my best golf and focus on myself. If that's winning, great; if not, then that's all I can do is play my best. I'm just going to stick to my game plan and see where that puts me for tomorrow.
