Quick Quotes
Q. Getting around the Old Course on a pretty windy day, how pleased are you with that superb performance?
THOMAS DETRY: Great day. I got off to a great start. Same yesterday, I got off to a great start and my partner played well. Playing well as a team and that's fun.
I'm playing great golf, hitting every single fairway and hitting it to the right spot. Haven't hit a ton of spots but taking care of the easy holes and doing pretty well.
Q. You have plenty of mileage around the Old Course. What helped you to have that performance today?
THOMAS DETRY: Don't hit it right. There's just one key word here: Don't hit it right. Obviously there's not much rough this week and I made the mistake at Carnoustie to try to hit the tight line, and in some areas, 17 there's the option to go straight at it. But you hit it left and you really take the big number out of play. I feel like that's what this course requires. A couple of bunkers are in play, and if you hit a way from them you can take the bad number out of play and take advantage of the easy holes.
Q. How easy is it for you to keep your concentration and remember that this is a big tournament with a lot on the line, or are you feeling more relaxed because of their company?
THOMAS DETRY: It's hit or miss. I see this week as a marathon of patience. It's a long week you spent 5 1/2, 6 hours on the golf course. Luckily I have a good partner that's a good friend of mine, as well. We're just having fun. But when it's time to play, it's time to play and focus on the shot, and I thought I did that pretty well this week.
Q. Proven winner on the PGA Tour, but do you dare to allow your mind to think about what it would feel like to secure a maiden title on the DP World Tour here at the Home of Golf?
THOMAS DETRY: It's hard not to. The idea of having my picture on the bridge there with the trophy sounds pretty good to me. I'll just stick to my routine, do what I'm doing well. I feel like I've controlled my mind pretty well the last couple weeks, actually, and it was the same story last week.
Just stick to the process, and tomorrow will be a fun day. We're expecting a little bit of wind tomorrow but the Old Course is still gettable. I think whoever wins tomorrow will have to shoot low.
