Quick Quotes

Q. Jackson, birdie on the last to make the cut on the number. Can you just talk us through that putt, that entire hole, bunker shot.

JACKSON KOIVUN: Yeah, I mean, standing on 9 tee with 10 holes to go I just told myself if I can make four or five birdies, I'll be fine. Obviously the cut got pretty deep at 6, so I needed that birdie on 18. But I hit a pretty good drive, it just overturned just a little bit in that bunker. Didn't have the greatest lie. But I pulled 3-wood and I was like, I'm going to go for broke here. Came out nicely. I figured if I caught it heavy or something it would end up in the same spot as a layup. So, came out nicely. And then that chip was solid, just outside the gimmie range for the putt. It was pretty nerve wracking, but just happy to see it go in and fighting this weekend.

Q. Starting with a bogey, how difficult is it to get your composure back and get in the right mental space for the day?

JACKSON KOIVUN: This week it seems like I've been mentally pretty exhausted. Just been struggling with some emotions this past two days. But there's a lot of birdies to be made out on this golf course and I feel like I'm hitting it great and hitting it well enough to go out there and execute and make some of those birdies. I'm really proud of the way I fought back on those last nine holes.

Q. Being exhausted and knowing you're right on the cut line, was there ever a thought of maybe talk the weekend off?

JACKSON KOIVUN: No, I mean, I don't think -- I'm the type of person that, if I come out to a tournament I come in here and I want to win it. So at the end of the day I was fighting hard to make that cut and just happy to say I did and have a chance this weekend to hopefully go put up two good numbers.

Q. And there was no hesitation on that hitting 3-wood out of the bunker there?

JACKSON KOIVUN: No, I mean, it's something I do quite a bit and I'm comfortable with. Obviously the lie wasn't great, but I figured if I just got on top of it and it would give me a pretty good look at a third shot.

Q. Is there anything you're going to work on in particular heading into the weekend or is it kind of just rest and reset?

JACKSON KOIVUN: Yeah, I think rest is the most important thing for me right now. Putting could get a little better. I haven't putted great this week. That's something I've been struggling with for the past couple weeks. But maybe do some drills in my room and just recovery is key.

Q. After a couple rounds overall thoughts on the golf course?

JACKSON KOIVUN: It's beautiful. The blind tee shots make it unique. The hilliness and the altitude, it's different than things I've played in the past, not in a bad way, but you can go put up some good numbers here.
