ALFRED DUNHILL LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP

October 2, 2026

MJ Daffue

St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland

Quick Quotes

Q. Round of 68 that takes you to 10-under for the week. Take us through the round?

MJ DAFFUE: I hit a pretty good approach shot to one. It was very different compared to the practice round and I thought it was going to skip. Spun it back in the water. Disappointing starting the round like that but I'm pretty proud of how patient I was because I only missed one green since then for the whole round, and so I had a lot of looks. And I hit a lot of good putts. Just didn't make any. Made one or two coming in, and then obviously the last hole had a perfect read but I hit that putt in the practice round and I guess that's why we do practice rounds, right.

Q. You made some long ones.

MJ DAFFUE: Yeah, I would say I didn't make any of the ones inside 15 feet. I hit a lot of lips today. I don't know if my green reading was off or speed but at the end of the day, you can only try your best. At least if I get another chance, I'll make a small adjustment.

Q. They say it's hard to back up one good round with another one. Is that different this week with a new course each day?

MJ DAFFUE: I do think it's different because I feel like it's four different tournaments. You show up, you play the golf course, take it for what it is, and you have your game plan. So for me, it is always hard but it is because of expectations and if you stick to the process, I think that things just align the way they are supposed to.

Q. Kingsbarns yesterday. How different was that from today, and what are different challenges between the two courses?

MJ DAFFUE: This is obviously a very different test. The weather was funny today. We had some rain and we had some wind. Some holes you want the wind. Some holes, you don't. The whole time it was judging, is it going to spin coming into the greens or skip. There was a lot of flags coming downwind or just over little knobs. Just take your medicine and take a 20-footer and see if you can hit it.

It's a good test. This course, you have to avoid the bunkers. Kingsbarns, you can avoid the bunkers pretty good. There's a lot of holes that doesn't have any bunkers. I did a pretty good job of adjusting and staying patient and using my imagination on the last hole instead of trying to flight something up there.

Q. Can you talk about the chat today?

MJ DAFFUE: Yeah, obviously from South Africa and known Johann for a long time. We joke a lot. South Africans are easy to get along with, fellow South Africans. And yeah, we encourage. So it's very relaxed but like I said yesterday, it feels like a Saturday growing up, playing with my dad and his friends. That's kind of where I thrive.
