ALFRED DUNHILL LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP

October 2, 2026

Matt Jordan

St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland

Quick Quotes

Q. Incredible 7-under round of 65 here at Carnoustie. Can you sum up that performance?

MATT JORDAN: Yeah, brilliant. Really good. Even the bogey on last, the 5-, 6-footer, kind of felt good in the end, as well. Really, really pleasing as you'd expect.

Q. Starting on ten with back-to-back birdies, how important to get off to a fast start around here?

MATT JORDAN: Yeah, obviously anywhere, but when you start on 10 I did, it's quite nice now but starting out, it wasn't great. But then you obviously have 12, even though I didn't birdie it, you have 12 and 14 and you have 11 which wasn't playing too fast. So you feel like you have gettable holes when you are starting on ten out here. Fortunately I was able to do that.

Yeah, played the harder holes well with the finish here 16 to 18 and just tried to continue it on.

Q. Eagle on the par 5, 14, notoriously one of the most difficult.

MATT JORDAN: Yeah, quite simple with driver, hit a drive down there to about 9-foot and held it. Didn't appear as difficult as obviously you can make it. Once you eagle that, got to 4-under through five, that was good for me to kick on.

Q. How much of a challenge have you found Carnoustie, and what are the main differences between the three layouts?

MATT JORDAN: It's just been, in this event, my Achilles' heel. I remember shooting 9-under at St Andrews and came here and the weather was absolutely horrendous.

Yeah, I can't kick myself too much but I think I shot 5-under there, and I think the year before, I shot 8-under and 6-under, and then I think came here and shot kind of level or 1-under. So it's always really kind of held me back a bit.

It's just hard golf holes. Where the wind is normally, you have a couple of nice ones, but there's a handful in there that keep you honest. Really pleasing to come away from this and finally shooting a good score around here.

Q. Your playing partner in the team competition, how much fun have you had with Piers, and a great four-ball alongside James Marsden and Peter Jones?

MATT JORDAN: Yeah, with Piers, amount of sledging that goes on towards me is incredible. It's like we are supposed to be a team but honestly it's all about him and that's how he makes it.

He says stuff -- I think Peter Jones missed a 2-foot putt on 15 and he comes up to me because I hit it to two foot, as well, and he says, "Don't do a Jonesy." What else would you expect in a Tour event? So kind of puts the heebie-jeebies in you over that small putt. Just cuts at me like that, and every time I seem to do something good, it's him taking the limelight.

Q. A slightly relaxed field this week but there are plenty of Race to Dubai points available. How much of an impact would a good week be for your season?

MATT JORDAN: Yeah, of course, like any week, it's doing well -- but I'm just more bothered about getting into the last groups and giving myself chances to win, really. I don't really necessarily look at that too much. I'm just bothered the about giving myself chances. And I have done that in the past recently, so that's what I want to do again.
