Quick Quotes
Q. Thoughts on that round?
M.J. DAFFUE: It was good. This golf course can get tricky with the wind comes up. It's very different to the other ones. There's a lot more undulation on greens.
I started off quite slow but settled in. Made a good putt on 15 and got the round going. It was solid. I played great golf and I had a lot more looks. Links golf is so much fun. So it's just kind of trying to enjoy it, and taking advantage of this kind of amateur format, a bit more relaxed.
Q. You touched on it, just the one dropped shot today. How proud are you of that consistency in these conditions?
M.J. DAFFUE: Yeah, it was good. I got lucky once but most of the time, it was pretty in front of me and in play and I kept it on the right side. Hit a lot of good quality golf shots and had a lot of good looks and stayed patient. When you're not playing well, patience is tough to have.
Q. How much are you enjoying links golf and all the challenges it presents?
M.J. DAFFUE: Links golf just unlocks a different part of my brain. It's like, I don't know, obviously it's something that's not familiar to me growing up but I don't know, I love the trueness of links. When you hit good golf shots and you do the right things, it pays off. But when you're not on top of it, it will beat you. Strategy is big in links golf, but I don't know, I think it's just a lot of fun, like I said.
Q. You had a really strong year on HotelPlanner Tour and on the DP World Tour. How do you reflect on your year so far?
M.J. DAFFUE: I think my reflection would just be grateful. I've worked hard on my game. Worked hard on my mental game, and the opportunities I've gotten, I've taken advantage of. You know, it's been nice, too, to finally see the work that I'm putting in and showing a little bit. But I think it's been the mindset of attitude and understanding it's a hard game and not being hard on myself and enjoying it.
It's an incredible season, and I've done amazing things, and I'm hoping that I can finishing strong and take a little bit of time off. It's been a long year.
Q. Just lastly, you mentioned at the start, how much fun do you have during this sort of change of format out in the sun in Scotland?
M.J. DAFFUE: Yeah, the weather is amazing, isn't it, compared to what it could be. But this format is great. I've played Pebble Beach before and I've played this one a few times. You get to know people, and I'm a people person. It reminds me of growing up playing with my dad and his friends on a Saturday morning. So it's a lot of fun.
