U.S. MID-AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

September 30, 2026

Andrew Bailey

Nekoosa, Wisconsin, USA

Sand Valley Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. Congratulations. That's a long day obviously and now you're into the final. Best finish I believe in a USGA event, right?

ANDREW BAILEY: That's right.

Q. Getting to the finals.

ANDREW BAILEY: Yeah. It is. Long day. Yeah, pretty mentally exhausted right now. Two good matches, and, yeah, one in the afternoon with a good friend, Matt Vogt.

Yeah, played well. Delighted to see what happens tomorrow.

Q. What was the turning point in the match? You guys were pretty tight.

ANDREW BAILEY: We were pretty tight. I believe I was 2-up and then I was 1-up on the 13th hole. Got up and down if the bunker; he didn't. Then had a really clutch eight-footer for par on 15. That got me 3-up and kind of just held on from a there.

Q. Yeah. Is it hard to think about all the stuff that comes with this championship when you're out there, especially in the semifinals?

ANDREW BAILEY: I think it's impossible not to think about it. You got to just live with it and just keep telling yourself you're worthy of winning the event, yeah.

Q. You played how many years on the PGA TOUR Canada, two, one?

ANDREW BAILEY: No. I played for like -- I never actually had a start on PGA Tour Canada.

Q. You got a picture on the...

ANDREW BAILEY: Yeah, I'm reinstated Am who made like $8,000.

Q. So mini tours?

ANDREW BAILEY: Yeah, broke my wrist and immediately got my amateur status back.

Q. When did you break your wrist?

ANDREW BAILEY: 2015.

Q. And so you got it back in '17 I think I saw, right?

ANDREW BAILEY: '17, yeah.

Q. So obviously then you start getting into sales.

ANDREW BAILEY: Yep, then I worked for Cardinal Health for two and a half years, kind of my first job out of college. Took a chance and started working for Holderness & Bourne, you know, end of 2017, so been with them for little over eight years now.

Q. You're a national sales guy for them now?

ANDREW BAILEY: Yeah, I manage our golf business domestically. National green grass sales manager is the title.

Q. Sounds like a big job.

ANDREW BAILEY: Yeah, it is. Thankfully I have a lot of good sales reps and good support team. One of them was out watching me today, so it's great.

Q. Yeah. Your best finish in anything other than the USGA stuff, I guess you've been Ohio Amateur champion, what, twice?

ANDREW BAILEY: Twice, in '23 and '24. '23 was at my home club, which was pretty sweet.

Q. That's Canterbury?

ANDREW BAILEY: Yes.

Q. Are you involved with the girls junior next year?

ANDREW BAILEY: I am.

Q. What are you doing for them?

ANDREW BAILEY: I'm -- I think I'm player liaison and host committee. I'm doing whatever Tracy Parsons tells me to.

Q. So probably pretty excited about that.

ANDREW BAILEY: I am. I think I have a meeting with her on Friday, so hopefully it's an exciting one.

Q. How much golf can you get in with your job? How many days a week do you play?

ANDREW BAILEY: Yeah, I'm fortunate that I live less than a mile away from Canterbury. I work remote and I travel, so on the days that I'm not traveling I'm able to get out and play six holes a couple nights a week.

Usually we have a lot of six-hole loops and I try to get one round in on the weekends. Love to putt, so we have a good putting green. Like to get up there and practice.

Q. Probably need a lot of putting practice this week for this course.

ANDREW BAILEY: Yeah, it's a lot of pace. We have putting matches all the time with me and a lot of my buddies there, so we go out a cocktail and putt around. I think it's helped me this week.

Q. Married with kids or...

ANDREW BAILEY: No kids. We're trying, but just had my six-year anniversary last weekend, two weekends ago on the 19th.

Q. Do anything special?

ANDREW BAILEY: I was at Pine Valley for the Crump Cup.

Q. That's pretty nice. Did your wife go with you?

ANDREW BAILEY: No. No, they don't let outsiders in anymore. She took her own trip and we had an anniversary dinner the following Tuesday.

Q. This would be a pretty nice -- if you get the job done tomorrow would be a pretty good wedding anniversary gift to the wife.

ANDREW BAILEY: I think so.

Q. A trip to Pebble.

ANDREW BAILEY: She might be coming. I don't know.

Q. Really? She might come tomorrow?

ANDREW BAILEY: Yeah.

Q. Thanks Andrew.

ANDREW BAILEY: Thanks.
