Quick Quotes
Q. Hell of a week to get to the semifinal. I know it's disappointing when you don't get to the last step of this thing.
MATT VOGT: Yeah. Yeah, very. Very. Hats off to Andrew. He played amazing. Didn't give me an inch. Yeah, he played great. Hats off to him.
Q. Yeah, seemed like the turning point may have been 13.
MATT VOGT: Yeah. I mean, it didn't feel like there was a real turning point.
Q. Okay.
MATT VOGT: He played great. I probably didn't have my best stuff, and like I said, didn't feel like he was giving me an inch. Made a nice birdie on 12. Hit it to two, three feet. He came right back and hit an exceptional bunker shot to a foot and I couldn't match it.
So, yeah, he played awesome.
Q. Yeah. Obviously had a tough match this morning too to take out Kittleson, big hitter.
MATT VOGT: Yeah, yeah. I mean, I felt like I played great this morning. I didn't give him an inch and I know Drew is a great player and I'm really proud of how I played in that match.
Yeah, match play is a fickle beast for sure. Tale of two matches for me today.
Q. Best finish in a USGA event. What do you take away from this?
MATT VOGT: It's tough -- it's a little tough to process at the moment.
Q. Yeah.
MATT VOGT: But, I mean, I think it's something great to build on. Exceptional experience. I just loved being in the arena and I can't wait to build on the experience of this week and be back for more.
Q. Get two more years, obviously two-year exemption.
MATT VOGT: Yeah, that feels great. I mean, yeah, this is what you want to be playing every year as a Mid-Am.
So, yeah, I mean, right now all I can think about is seeing my wife and kids.
Q. Yeah, that's okay.
MATT VOGT: And going home.
Q. Two kids, correct?
MATT VOGT: Yeah, two kids.
Q. They're young.
MATT VOGT: Yeah.
Q. Classy move on the last. What was your thought process?
MATT VOGT: Andrew is a friend. I was honestly like just -- I wish I wasn't playing Andrew because he's a friend. I know him well, and he had a two putt from maybe 15 feet or 18 feet to close out the match, and I just -- I didn't need to stand by.
Like he won that match, you know. I felt like that was the right thing to do in the moment.
Q. Right.
MATT VOGT: And like I said, hats off to him. I'm excited for him. Excited for Nate, too. They're both friends. I thank God and feel very blessed for everything this week, and I'm excited for what's to come.
