ALFRED DUNHILL LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP

September 30, 2026

Alex Fitzpatrick

St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland

Quick Quotes

Q. Alex, welcome back to the Home of Golf. How excited are you to be back at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Yeah, very much excited. It's a bit of a different feel for me this week than it was last year when I was trying to keep my card. So I feel a lot more relaxed, obviously with my mum, dad and brother here. It will be a great week.

Q. You've had a terrific season winning on the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. How would you sum up your season so far as a whole?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Yeah, I'd say it's about as good as it gets. I think if you told me at the start of the year that this would happen, I would have told you you were lying to me. It's been incredible. I feel like I've been trying to make the most of every opportunity I've had, and I've been enjoying it as much as I can and it's been a lot of fun.

Q. This week there's a lot of the Race to Dubai and Ryder Cup points available. How big of a goal is the Ryder Cup following your trip to Adare a couple of weeks ago?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Yeah, definitely. I was actually saying to someone earlier, I think you go on that trip, and it makes you hungry to do more and play better golf, and that's something that I've always dreamed of, being part of the Ryder Cup.

Hopefully just keep doing more of the same and that will get me into Adare.

Q. New format this week. Do you enjoy taking on the challenge of three different layouts this week?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Yeah, it's definitely an interesting format. I think you're playing three amazing golf courses with a lot of history, and I think playing with my mum will be a lot of fun. I know she's a champion here, so there's probably more pressure on me to do well.

But the main thing is having fun this week, and that's kind of my main goal and priority.

Q. As you alluded to, it's a real family affair this week, saw you practicing yesterday with your brother, mum and dad. How much do you enjoy playing the Old Course yesterday with them, and teeing up with your mum, is she happy to play a partnership with mat?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Yeah, once she won, she was fed up with playing and him and I got the invite. Yeah, it's amazing to be at the Old Course. Like I said, a place with such history, so many great players have played this golf course.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun to see some of the new changes yesterday, and the only downside, it was blowing 30-mile-an-hour, so maybe on the trickier side. It was great to be out there.

Q. What do you make of of the changes?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: It was good. We saw maybe two holes with changes. I think 16, they made more of the fairway on the left. I think it didn't play a massive factor on the eye, I would say, which is probably a good thing because you try to keep the course as close to the old one as possible. I think 15 was 750 yards yesterday with the wind. Other than it being a long way back, that was pretty much all it was.
