Q. Tom, a 65 to back up a solid performance yesterday. Assess today's round for us.

TOM VAILLANT: Yeah, it was a nice round. Played overall pretty well from tee-to-green especially. I don't think I missed the green today. So that helps a lot on this course. And trying to enjoy the perfect course and the great weather.

Q. Bogey-free, and you made four birdies I think your first six holes. How important was that fast start to really build some momentum into the round?

TOM VAILLANT: Yeah, well, we know that the back nine is a bit tougher than the front nine, even if the front nine got a little bit tougher with the new holes.

But, I mean, having a good start always helps and put in the right momentum. So that helps.

Q. This is such a historic event, and obviously your national open. How special is it to be in this position heading into the weekend?

TOM VAILLANT: Yeah, well, that's a dream. I mean, I'm watching this tournament since I'm a kid. For me, that's the most important tournament for me, except major, is here.

So obviously I just want to enjoy every moment with the crowd, and we'll see what happens.

Q. Just on the crowd, it must be pretty special to have family and friends out there supporting you.

TOM VAILLANT: Yeah. Yeah, it's crazy. I mean, every time I step on a tee box, everyone were applauding and making some noise. So that's crazy. And, yeah, we just try to enjoy it.
