Q. What does it feel like to be one of the veterans on the team?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, it's great to have experience before, but I don't think it's enough because Scottie played 12 times, Hideki played seven times. I wish I can get their number, but yeah, I'm going to try. It feels comfortable, way more comfortable than the first two Cups. I feel really comfortable. We pretty much the same squad, just a couple new guys coming in, so kind of a lot of the same, and the vibe is good. Just really honored to be on the team.

Q. Do you feel like match play brings out some of your best golf sometimes?

SI WOO KIM: Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I think all of us have been playing really good in match play. It's always fun to play match play, and especially 1v1 is always fun to me. Yeah, I always have fun.

Q. With your dad being such a big influence on your golf your whole life, is there something your dad used to tell you as a kid that you hear in your head now when you're playing golf?

SI WOO KIM: I was just following my dad, and then at that time I was too young. I don't know what's going on much. Just trying to play. I've played a lot since five. Yeah, that was it.

My dad was a pretty good player, like 2, 3 handicap, so I just learned a lot from my dad.

Q. Do you plan on doing that with Theo when he gets a little older?

SI WOO KIM: I'd love to, but he's never interested in golf much now.

Q. I've been told there was a video posted of you today. Sounds like Min Woo is having a time with some AI videos. Did you enjoy that?

SI WOO KIM: Well, he's making tons of video, when he's on the bus, when he's in the team room, when he's on the course. He's clicking everywhere. It's just fun to be around him. He's a really good player and a really good creator as well.

Q. Is he better at creating than playing?

SI WOO KIM: I don't think so, but he's still good at creating things.

Q. That one was of you at a roller rink. Is that the best one you've seen thus far?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, I was able to take a team photo, and my teammates dying laughing, and I don't know what's going on. I just step into the video, and he just smoked me from the video. Yeah, it was fun. It was fun. I think it's a really funny video.

Q. Where would your game be at right now? We get to the end of the Tour season and it's like a three-week break. How do you stay in form?

SI WOO KIM: I think it's still great, but maybe the first few holes are going to be a little tricky because I've been playing pretty much every week, and then I got to rest three, four weeks. I haven't played a tournament the last three, four weeks, so it's going to be a little tough the first few holes.

I think I'm going to find a way somehow. I've been playing a lot of golf the last couple, three weeks, so I don't think it's going to be much different.

Q. In Dallas?

SI WOO KIM: Yes.

Q. With Scottie?

SI WOO KIM: Yes.

Q. You've actually played well against him in this event?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah.

Q. And then you lose to him when you play at home?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, I've been playing with him twice in Cup. It was 2-0 for me I managed in that. Hopefully that's not wake him up.

Q. Has this year been the best year of golf in your life?

SI WOO KIM: I think so, yes.

Q. What was the difference maker this year?

SI WOO KIM: I think I try not to change a lot of things. Some years I changed putting style and putting over 10 times, and somebody told me just stick with whatever works or not. Just stick with the same thing and you're going to show the -- it's going to work some days. Somebody told me that, so I was just --

Q. You don't remember who?

SI WOO KIM: I know who it is, but I don't think I can say. I always remember that, and I never changed my putting style this year and never changed my putting. Especially my putting is good after Genesis, so I think that helps a lot.

Q. Was the person a player, coach?

SI WOO KIM: I think some coach and some player.

Q. In Montreal you guys had some pretty lively practice rounds. Some cash was exchanged. Any big winners in the practice rounds this week for you guys?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, we had a lot of matches between us. It's just really fun. We kind of felt a little bit of nervous, like even the practice rounds. That's why we're trying to do it. It was really good. It felt like as similar as possible to a tournament. I think it was really good preparation.

Q. Nick Taylor is making his Presidents Cup debut this week at 38. Obviously he's had a really great career individually. What do you think he's going to bring to the team this week?

SI WOO KIM: I always think about him even last Cup and two Cups before. He will be a big help for us. Finally he's in the team, and I'm excited for him.

He's always a great ball striker, and he can make a lot of clutch putts, and he's been winning, like, most pressure events. Phoenix, I think. I think he's going to bring us a lot of points and a lot of advantage.

Q. Has he fit in well with the team dynamic so far this week?

SI WOO KIM: Yes. He's a really nice guy. We have a really good relationship, all the players. We're really good in position, I think.

Q. Who's your favorite swing on the team?

SI WOO KIM: My favorite swing, I would say Adam Scott.

Q. You played this course before at the BMW. Can you talk about the six holes that have changed? A lot less trees. Tell me your feelings about the course.

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, I've been playing 2019 here, and I never thought I was playing here before, and I realized in Memphis -- like a ChatGPT thing, Si Woo Kim never played at Medinah, and it shows I played BMW 2019. So I just realized that.

I only remember clubhouse and nothing else. Especially the whole course has changed over here. Geoff did a really good job on the course. The course condition is great, and all the shapes are great. It's going to be a really great golf course for us.

Q. Throughout the history of this event, the Americans have had a lot of success. It's going to take some incredible performances here in Chicago. What is the team feeling about their opportunity here this week?

SI WOO KIM: I think we've seen a lot of potential the last three, four Cups, and we know we can do it. Especially last year Friday was really positive, so all the players have confidence back.

Especially this year, we have pretty much the same team, only two, three rookies. I think they're going to help us too. It's going to be really great.

Q. In your previous appearances, you and the team played a lot better than the final score indicated. It's a game of inches, very, very close.

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, I think so. We're playing good four-ball, foursomes. Everything is great. Only tough thing is singles. But we're going to find a way. We're just going to stick to the game and see what it is.

Q. You're going to get used to these planes flying overhead all the time?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, that's not a problem, I think.

Q. What makes you think you can win this week?

SI WOO KIM: I think, first of all, I've got to help my team. Even if I play four or five matches, I want to bring the team more than three and a half points for it to be helpful. I'm going to win as much as I can and try and help the team. I think this guy is going to bring a lot of points as well, so everything looks great.

Q. What has Geoff been like as a captain?

SI WOO KIM: He's really good. He's been a really good player, and then he knows the course well, really well. He's always positive and always gives us great tips. Everything was really great the last few days.

Q. Do you understand him? He has a really funny accent.

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, if I don't, Tom is always next to me, so I ask him.

Q. You made a little bit of history this year: First player to win $10 million in a season without winning. Is that good or bad?

SI WOO KIM: I'll take that even if no win. If I can make more than $10 million every year, I'll take that. I was a little frustrated no win this year, but since June I've been playing really good pretty much every two weeks. I try not to stress not winning. I just play my golf, stick to my plan. I think it's a really successful year.

Q. What was the one tournament you thought you could have or should have won?

SI WOO KIM: CJ Cup. I think even Sunday I've been playing really good. But some guy shot 59. Nothing I can do.

Q. Would you like to see an international women's team?

SI WOO KIM: Ooh, I haven't think about that. I think that would be great, yes.

Q. If I could show you the roster what that would look like --

SI WOO KIM: I think our team is going to be great. A lot of good Korean players, Japanese players, Thailand players. These are a beast.

Q. How nerve-racking is it at a team event in front of large crowds to have out of bounds on the left holes 1, 2 and 3?

SI WOO KIM: It's a lot of pressure. I think last three Cups there wasn't really much pressure the first hole because you can hit it everywhere and still make birdie. But this year if it misses left, you pretty much give the hole.

Still, either way, a lot of -- there's going to be a lot of pressure. I mean, I've been playing the whole year with pressure, so that's not going to be a problem much.

Q. What do you enjoy the most about this week?

SI WOO KIM: I think with the boys, like even on the course, off the course, we're so much having fun, especially Min Woo, Tom, Sungjae. Those guys are the best. It's really fun on the team with those boys.
