Q. What makes you believe you can win this week?

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: The team members are really good this year. And the energy is also, has improved, I think, and I think that everybody on the team believes we can win, so, yeah.

Q. What is your favorite memory of the Presidents Cup?

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: The second shot on 18 at my first Presidents Cup was probably my favorite memory.

Q. Muirfield Village.

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: Yes. I've seen it a lot on Instagram.

Q. Curious what do you remember from your first Presidents Cup and how are you drawing on those experiences this week?

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: I just remember being really nervous and not realizing that I could have nerves like that. It was different nerves than I ever had before at a normal tournament. I think that experience helps me now. I still feels the nerves, but I'm able to handle them better than when I first played at Muirfield.

Q. Being an international veteran as well, how have you taken a mentor approach towards some of the first timers on this team as well?

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: I would say definitely that it's hard for me to be the leader like Adam is because of my English. But I try to get out of everybody's way and let them be the players that they are and just do the best that I can do to help the team.

Q. What are your impressions of the course this week, and what are you most looking forward to?

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: The course is very long and the tee shot is really important, so I'm looking forward to those challenges. I enjoy a hard course, and so I'm looking forward to getting the tee shots in the fairway and things of that nature.

Q. You've made quite a few Presidents Cup appearances. What makes this team so much different than your other teams you played in?

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: This year's team the ages and experiences are all different, it's kind of mixed up. Everybody looks like they're having a good time, and the energy is really good. Everybody believes that they can win. I think that this team in specifically the energy just feels different.
